Tyrant: Like Father Like Son

Wow, I just finished watching this film, and I have to say that it was excellent! I did not expect it to be anywhere near as good as it was due to it being an independent film, but I was happily mistaken!

The film follows a man who just got out of prison after doing 15 years. Prior to going into prison he was the leader of a gang that ruled certain blocks in Chicago. He wants to change his life, but he has to contend with a wife who is unsupportive of his change and a son who is in to deep to go back.

It's was a phenomenal film and some thing I would recommend to anybody who is interested in gangster movies!

The message of the film is a deep one.

I try to watch a lot of movies on Tubi because I usually like what the creators are going for. Most of the times, I turn them off because the story or production issues can be too frustrating. (This isn't a dig; I'm sensitive to a fault!) Tyrant, however, gave me exactly what I needed: a lead with star power, a well constructed story, and decent production quality. On top of that, there were moments where I truly (and unexpectedly) laughed out loud at the jokes from supporting characters ("two times!"). Whoever made this movie gave nearly every featured actor their time to shine, which made the viewing experience feel fresh, varied, and communal throughout. I'd almost bet everyone involved enjoyed being a part of this film. I hope to see more movies like Tyrant. I'll definitely keep looking and watching.
