Avis à la une
I was thoroughly impressed by "Murder in Mahim." This series masterfully adapts Jerry Pinto's novel, delivering a compelling and suspenseful narrative. Ashutosh Rana and Vijay Raaz are outstanding, their performances adding depth and nuance to the story. The show's focus on social issues such as caste and gender discrimination is both thought-provoking and timely. The depiction of Mumbai's Mahim neighborhood is vivid and atmospheric, enhancing the overall impact of the series. Each episode is well-crafted, maintaining a high level of suspense and intrigue. This series is a standout in the crime thriller genre and a must-watch for its brilliant execution and powerful themes.
From its gripping storyline to its stellar performances, Murder in Mahim is a true masterpiece of television. Shivani Raghuvanshi, Benafsha, and Sonal deliver performances that are nothing short of mesmerizing, infusing their characters with depth and emotion. Their chemistry on screen is palpable, adding richness and authenticity to the narrative. Meanwhile, Ashutosh Rana and Vijay Raaz deliver tour de force performances that elevate the series to new heights. Ashutosh's commanding presence and Vijay's magnetic energy captivate audiences, making Murder in Mahim a must-watch for fans of quality television.
The book was not the best work of Jerry Pinto and the series is a reflection of that. It has great actors like Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Rana, but there is a limit to how much they can sweat the basic story. Shivaji Satam is completely wasted (a far cry from the powerful CID kind of roles you have seen him in)
While the focus is on Mahim, there isn't much of Mahim in the series. And the script meanders before coming towards the end to tie up the loose ends. LGBTQ is a central part of the theme, but that part is slightly overcooked.
If you find something better to watch, this is a good 8 hours you can save.

Just completed binge watching this. Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Raana have done brilliant job. Also,I couldn't find a single character who has given an average or below par performance. The chemistry between both the lead actors was amazing. The first episode feels a little bit slow but once all the characters are established, it doesn't feel that way and you are already hooked on to it.
The story, the direction and the acting are all top class.
The social issues were handled perfectly. The way it shows both the good and bad side of police department was brilliant. I wish to see a few more seasons of this show.

Web Series Review: Murder in Mahim streaming on Jio Cinema!!
Based on a book by Jerry Pinto who incidentally was my teacher in school 🙂, Murder in Mahim starts off well with the brutal murder of a gay prostitute in a toilet inside Mahim station. As the body count increases, Inspector Jende ( Vijay Raaz ) is forced to forge an alliance with his estranged friend and retired reporter Peter Fernandes ( Ashutosh Rane) to piece together the clues and solve the mystery. Helping Jende in this case is rookie inspector Rabbani ( Shivani Raghuvanshi).
I have mixed feelings about this web series. The casting is spot on with Ashutosh Rana , Vijay Raaz & Shivani Raghuvanshi getting into the skin of their individual characters and performing well overall.
There are two storylines which run in parallel .The first one is the murder mystery which is very engaging. The second one is about challenges faced by the LGBT community in India. This gets a bit peachy & results in the narrative slowing down intermittently and digressing from the main plot . A tighter script coupled with crisp editing would have definitely made a stronger impact and conveyed both storylines more effectively.
To cut the makers some slack , the narrative which slows down somewhere in the middle quickly picks up pace in the last three episodes resulting in a decently showcased climax!!
Even with its shortcomings.. Murder in Mahim is a decent one time watch!! Had the potential to be much better though ... Some points to ponder for the makers if they plan a sequel in future!!
Going with 3/5 for this one .. Adios 🙂!!
