Avis à la une
What a woman
As a resident of Billingham I remember the case well. The drama follows the tragic events very accurately and you cannot but admire Ann's stubbornness and perseverance. It has echoes of the woman who fought for justice after Hillsborough. Working class women who took on the establishment and government. Ann changed a law that had stood for 800 years!
Drama at its best.
Ann Ming is panic-stricken when her daughter Julie vanishes, but the police refuse to take her seriously. As time elapses, Ann tragically finds Julie's body, and an uphill battle to get a conviction begins.
ITV brings us another real-life crime drama, following the likes of Manhunter, Des, and The Pembrokeshire Murders. I'd suggest they've all been excellent, and this follows that pattern.
It's a jaw-dropping story; of course, it tells the story of Julie's murder, but the focus is more on her mum-the story of Ann Ming's grit and determination, her refusal to simply accept a miscarriage of justice, and her battle against a law that dates back to the Magna Carta.
It's moving, it's sad, it's shocking; it takes you on a real rollercoaster of emotions. The courtroom scenes will make you feel so annoyed; Dunlop got away with his crimes for too long.
Having watched a few interviews of Ann Ming, I'd say that Sheridan Smith's performance is remarkable, once again showing her class.
Remarkable.
9/10.

Hauntingly excellent
Sheridan Smith delivers the performance of a lifetime. Her portrayal of a distraught, angry and grieving mother, makes you believe her pain is real. Incredible. It's a travesty if she doesn't win an award after this. It's horrendous that this is a true story and the attitudes of the time make you glad we've moved on!!
A fight to the finish
Sheridan Smith proves what a fine actor she is. The story of the change in the double jeopardy law in the UK is quite complex but this particular case was instrumental in getting a much-needed result.
Her supporting cast were equally well chosen, some spendid performances. This is the kind of emotively-charged but highly competent drama we could and should have more of. It would inspire anyone who feels they are a victim of injustice to pursue their case to the highest level - but it also proves that it takes some guts to do it!
Well done, ITV!

Amazing acting the best true crime series I've ever watched
I watched this show with my gran and grandad, who knew Ann from a group they were in to fight for justice for their children who had been murdered my gran and grandad lost their son through murder aswell and met Ann through one of the group meetings. Watching this show sent tears to our eyes especially since it happened so close to home. This show is so inspirational on so many levels, the fact Ann fought to change a law over 800 years old is truly powerful. I think Sheridan portrayed her beautifully and she should be very proud of herself. It's the best true crime series I've ever watched and it sent chills up my spine watching it, it's very emotional but nothing is shown that is too gory, however the tragedy Ann faced is enough to make your skin crawl no one should ever have to go through this. My gran was in tears, especially considering her son had been murdered aswell and the grief and anger stays with you forever. However, I think this series was portrayed beautifully and I think all the actors did an amazing job I would definitely reccomend you watch this show, especially if you like to see people overpowering the wrongfulness of the judging system. There was a lot of scenes we hadn't heard of like the fact he had murdered two others that left us in a state of shock. We are so happy this series has come out to hopefully keep her murderer in prison for the rest of his life and keep Ann safe she is such a brave woman and without her loads of other murderes could've gotten away meaning not only did she get justice for Julie but all the other victims aswell.
