Screams Before Silence

This documentary attempts to tackle the sensitive and truly important topic of sexual violence but ultimately falls short in its execution. The narrative feels disjointed and lacks a coherent structure, making it difficult to fully grasp the gravity of the issue. In addition, it does not explore the documented cases of sexual violence on the other side of the conflict. While it features compelling interviews they mask the lack of evidence for their claims with emotional content. Little or no nuance in the discussion leads to superficial and possibly misleading treatment of the subject matter, leaving viewers without actual information. Additionally, the seriousness of the stories is often undermined by sensationalism, which makes it hard to trust as an investigative documentary. Overall, this documentary feels like a missed opportunity to foster meaningful dialogue, on both sides. It would benefit from wider perspectives and analysis.

I was deeply disappointed with this documentary, as it felt more like a sensationalist portrayal than a thoughtful examination of sexual violence. The editing was disjointed, and the narration often veered into melodrama, overshadowing the serious subject matter. Instead of fostering understanding or empathy, the film seemed to prioritize shocking imagery and anecdotal evidence over informed analysis or survivor perspectives. It left me feeling unsettled without providing any constructive insights or solutions, ultimately failing to honor the gravity of the topic it sought to address. Would not recommend.

Very difficult to watch. Hopefully this film will help to bring these horrors to light and ensure that the innocent victims of Hamas' atrocities on October 7th are never forgotten. These scenes are as dark and disturbing as the very worst of the Holocaust. Exposing these crimes for what they were - sheer evil - should leave no doubt about the true nature of the existential threats faced by the Jewish people. The fact that some try to deny this happened, or portray the murderers as 'freedom fighters', makes me feel physically sick. What happened to these women is bad enough, trying to whitewash it is like spitting on their graves; the absence of humanity, and of respect for the dignity of those who perished, is another tragedy.

"Scream Before Silence" is very recommended for anyone wishing to gain some knowledge on the horiific events of October 7.

The world must learn what truly happened in its true broaded context and not give in to hate-fuelling antisemitic propaganda.

Thank you Sheryl Sandsberg for making this powerful documentary. Everyone should be watching this and learning from this, even the anti-Israel crowd in the West need to understand what "globalize the intifada" or "from the river to the sea" actually means.

"Scream Before Silence" should be watched for years and generations to come so these horrors are never committed or denied again.
