Curtains for Christmas

Obsessed with the holiday season, a woman is desperate to win the man of her dreams and sets up trying to make him her next boyfriend, but when her psychotic behavior threatens to put everything in jeopardy forces her into extreme measures to set everything right for the holiday season.

This was a highly enjoyable and effective feature. Among the most entertaining aspects here is the generally effective setup that manages to bring together plenty of intriguing elements into a wholly engaging storyline. The central idea here of inverting the type of normal romantic/comedy formula of a woman managing to find a person she believes is her true love but is let down by her compulsive desire for perfection at the specific holiday season is a fantastic grounding to offer a hilariously meta-filled take on the genre. The whole core of what's going on in here, with her obsessive fanaticism of the holiday, the meet-cute that paints him as the stereotypical perfect guy despite his current unavailable relationship status, and the ensuing ways she uses the holiday conventions with a horror bent creates a fantastic time mixing these elements together. The other big factor here is when the film utilizes a select series of hysterical miscommunications to string things along. Using the misgivings about the genre where she tries to use her favorite film as a roadmap for how to set up her fantasy relationship, this allows for a series of interactions where she has to get rid of the sweet natured girlfriend, the series of abductions with not just the house owners pretending to be her fathers but the burglars to be her sisters, and the incredibly funny interactions with the rat spirit guardian who has her best interests at heart but the psychotic mindset she has wins out. This lets the film get equally silly and funny alongside the graphic outbursts as the heartwarming central storyline plays its course, and with only the film's budgetary limitations being the central issue here makes for a really entertaining time.

I went into this film not thinking much at first but interested in how it would be executed after watching the trailer. After the first ten minutes i knew i was in for the hook. I personally enjoyed the second act when the drama really crashes down on some really fun and engaging performances. It is not a terribly long movie that's drawn out it's perfectly timed and keeps your attention the whole way through. Packed with all kinds of fun one liners and references that will make you laugh as well as all practical effects. I will for sure be adding this to my have to watch list every Christmas for sure. I'm sure after watching it you'll add it to yours as well.

Holly (Aleen Isley) loves Christmas. She dreams of meeting a man who loves Christmas as much as she does. A chance encounter with Jay (Steve Rudzinski) while shopping for curtains leads Holly to believe she's found the man of dreams, who also loves Christmas as much as she does.

Holly will go to any length to create her idea of the perfect Christmas, even if it means eliminating anyone who stands in her way.

Curtains for Christmas is an instant Christmas classic! Steve Rudzinski (Shingles: the Movie, CarousHell) and Aleen Isley have put together a fun film with the perfect mix of horror and humor. There are a lot of inside jokes that pay homage to several popular holiday films.

Aleen Isley does an excellent job as Holly. Steve Rudzinski is equally good as Jay. Jessa Flux (Murdercise, Bigfoot Exorcist) is a riot as always! Stick with this one through the credits for an appearance from Drew Marvick (Murdercise, XXX-MAS).

This is the latest movie from director Steve Rudzinski who also co stars in it. I have seen everything he has put out and I enjoy his work a lot. His movies don't have a big budget but he makes up for it with really great writing. This latest one is no exception. It follows Holly, who is a huge fan of Christmas....but is also psychotic. She is determined to find the perfect man, just like the lead actor from her favorite holiday movie "A Cheesy Christmas". I don't wanna give away the story because you just need to see it. Anything I say further will spoil the story for you. Trust me though this one is a fun one. Just when you think the movie can't possibly go somewhere, it does. I would highly suggest this one to people looking for a good holiday horror/comedy. Also check out Steve's other movies. Really good. Low budget done right.
