In an age where so much preparation goes into stand up comedy specials.. Adam Sandler unassumingly makes his way onto a small stage in an average venue, has several things technically go wrong, wins over the crowd with his charm, and is very funny.

He had both short and long 'bits' that just 'worked'.. and who knew he could play guitar!

I knew him as a funny movie writer/actor.. then I saw his serious roles in his latest movie to be impressed again.

I have not seen him perform outside of his movies before so I had no expectations of his stand up. He is very talented and this has added to my appreciation of him. Great show!

This special is not perfect, I think by choice Josh. Sadie shot it to portray the unfinished feel of the special. It looks like Adam had 20 minutes of good material and filled the rest not every joke lands, but it's an intimate hour with Adam. His strengths in stand up has always been his songs, there are no instant classic songs there are some fun ones that me chuckle. I will admit at times when he is telling a joke the consistent laughing during the set up is annoying as it's out of place and feels forced. You can see Adam's influences in comedy during the special as his jokes are these absurdist situations to set up a punch line. It is an an older styler of doing stand up not everything lands but it is great to listen too. I would prefer to listen to him pulling from his real life and telling jokes based on his experiences as one of the biggest comedy figures of the last 30 years that is what people want to hear. I do respect him doing different and doing a more traditional stand up style, as his songs are the highlight of the special. In the end if you like Adam you will enjoy the special it is rough but it doesn't hide that fact.

I think Sandler is trying to convey with this show that you're not supposed to take life too seriously. Life can be sad, sudden, joyful, and it will go on. I would like to start this review by stating a disclaimer that I have been a fan of Adam Sandler through all of his movies. The great ones and the bad ones. There, I said it. But I believe that's what's fans are supposed to do. Stick through the highs and the lows and occasionally, they ll hit the bullseye every once in a while. And that is exactly what the Sandman has done with this special.

This special plays out like an unbelievable skit. Or a sketch. I don't know because I just like comedy. I don't know the terms or depths of it. But Adam does. He has been extremely serious about comedy for a big part of his career and it shows. And in this seriousness lies the comedic funniness that makes us all laugh. And it makes us enjoy life a little better. Everything that happens in this special happens for a reason. Side note - Adam is good at playing basketball and playing the guitar and you are going to see one of these talents at display in this special.

Adam Sandler, so talented. Adam stuck to what he knows which is perfectly crafted comedy. He knows his audience And knows that he can be himself amongst his fans. Makes comedy look so easy. Loved it loved it loved it. Adam clearly loves his craft, and I just thought to myself, " How awesome is it to see someone reach their dreams so young and continue creating new dreams and goals that he desires to." So many people keep their dreams to themselves and don't ever see them realized. This Netflix special really reflects the respect he has for all of those comedians before him that Really granted permission for Adam to do whatever he wanted to do because they did it too. Perfect!
