    Divine Mother and Superstition

Creativity obviously demands certain liberty. But liberty can never be limitless. This is relevant in the context of new Bengali Web Series Nikosh Chhaya released on 31s October 2024 in Hoichoi. The Web Series narrates a story related to the belief of crores of people which demands a more sensible approach. Unfortunately, this sensitivity seems missing in some form or other here. .Rather, the Web Series deals with the concept of worshipping Divine Mother with a casual approach. This can never be accepted. From the cinematic perspective, the Web Series looks somewhat dull. It is claimed to be a Horror Crime Thriller. But in reality it is not so. No doubt, it is a fiction where realism is bound to be compromised. But any effort of wrong presentation of the Divine Mother can never be allowed in the name of creative freedom.

Similarly, the Web Series is stereotypical and the overdose of suspense makes it dull. Such deliberate ploy can never make a creative work worth enough to endorse. Shakti or Tantra Sadhana is not a cakewalk.

However, the Series has certain good points. Prambrata looks promising as a director. The casting is not bad as well. Chiranjit Chakraborty proves his talent yet again. Arindam displays maturity as an actor. But Kanchan Mallick is not a good choice for the role. Similarly, the Web Series has too many irrelevant characters. Anyway, the Web Series deserves less than avenge rating. One may watch.

Nikosh Chaya: Bengal's Mysticism Meets Gripping Suspense

With Nikosh Chaya, the next installment in this riveting series, Bengali storytelling continues its bold stride into uncharted, thrilling territories. This time, we are introduced to the enigmatic Bhaduri Moshai, a renowned occultist, as he confronts the sinister mysteries surrounding an Aghori tantric during a blood moon. The plot is deliciously dark, steeped in suspense, mysticism, and danger, making it an edge-of-the-seat experience.

The narrative blends Bengal's rich folklore with spine-chilling occult elements, giving us a story that feels both modern and rooted in ancient traditions. The tension in Nikosh Chaya is palpable, as the mysterious tantric's threats to Bhaduri Moshai's loved ones unravel layer by layer. The cinematography deserves special mention, capturing the eerie beauty of the blood moon and the haunting atmospheres with impeccable artistry.

But here's the question: why stop here? Bengal is sitting on a treasure chest of legendary characters and gripping tales that are crying out for adaptation. Detective Arjun, Dipkaku by Sukanto Gangopadhyay, Kiriti Roy-these are just a few examples of the incredible stories that could elevate Bengali content to global fame. While many are wasting time with formulaic, irritating dramas, the world is missing out on the brilliance of these complex, layered narratives.

If series like Nikosh Chaya can succeed, it proves there's a massive appetite for stories that are uniquely ours, stories that weave mystery, intellect, and cultural depth. Bengal has the creative arsenal to craft tales that could rival any global production. It's time we stop squandering this potential on repetitive melodrama and give our iconic literary figures their rightful place on the screen.

With Nikosh Chaya, we're moving in the right direction-but this should only be the beginning. The world needs to see the depth, complexity, and brilliance of Bengali storytelling, from occult mysteries to detective sagas. Here's hoping this is the spark that sets the fire ablaze.

Disappointing Horror: Nikash Chaya Lacks Logic and Depth

I recently watched Nikash Chaya on Hoichoi, a Bengali horror film based on a story by Souvik Chakraborty, and it turned out to be one of the worst horror movies I've seen. The film feels forced and tries to create horror with illogical twists that break any sense of suspense. The director seems to have overlooked the true essence of occult culture, failing to represent it authentically. Niren Bhaduri, the main character, appears helpless throughout-there's no strength in his voice or actions, and it even seems like he struggles to speak Bengali fluently. Overall, the movie comes across as very kiddish and lacks the depth needed for a genuine horror experience.
