If you found Blair Witch or Paranormal Activity slow and boring you will hate this. But if you like the slow burn, atmospheric, "what was that sound!?!"type scares that play on your imagination this works very well. I can't stress enough that not much happens on screen, there is no gore or violence so if that is what you are looking for, move on. The fear is in the quiet, the shadows, the creeping floor boards, the extended shots that have you searching in the background for a shadow that may or may not move. Can work as a fun gateway horror movie also, my 12 year old loved it and was thoroughly scared:) This was a real pleasant surprise for me and a fun hour and a half. I think it's a hidden gem.
So I'm normally the guy who finds horror movies "funny" because they're so obviously not real life... but this movie was different! It feels like something that could have actually happened... and honestly I'm still not sure if it did or not!!
I feel like the Blair Witch Project team must have had a hand in this one, with all the modern tech and context to make this feel insanely real!
The suspense that was built into a massive crescendo at the ending was awesome - I didn't know what was happening until it all came together and then... I questioned everything again!
Would highly recommend watching... and someone let me know if you can figure out why this doesn't feel like an actual movie!!?

There's a timely, interesting film in here somewhere, it comes through in flashes. This is especially true with darkly comic juxtapositions of the highly sentimental, performative TikTok shorts, and the oddly tense, elusive interactions between the couple, both of which feel very realistic and speak to mounting problems in modern society. The film could've just went down this road, following the steady breakdown and disintegration of this couple amid the strange occurrences around them at the farm house. In reality, an extra storyline involving an Internet sleuth, looking for the couple, is thrown in instead. I found these parts of the film mostly tedious and much more unbelievable, never adding any tension or extra weight to the plot. The supernatural element, which becomes much more apparent as the film goes on is, in my opinion, poorly implemented and used. Such wasted potential.
7 might seem high, but I've watched a lot of bad found-footage movies and this one's good! I've found many to be slow, full of obnoxious/crude humor, or the character relationships are so contrived that they distract from the story. #MissingCouple avoids those problems. The married couple have really good chemistry together. Both of them both show understated degrees of fear when creepy things happen. They show concern and apprehension instead of terror, so nothing over the top. I think that's all what sets this movie apart from others like it. Plus, I loved the ending! One reason I did was because I didn't see it coming until near the very end. But as for reason 2, watch for yourself-no spoilers- and I think you'll understand what I mean. The movie isn't a thrill ride, but it kept my attention (and I get bored fast). It's well paced, the camera shots are mostly steady, and it doesn't leave you guessing. It's definitely worth watching if you enjoy found-footage movies... or even if you just like a mystery.
#NotBlairWitch is an eyes on your own paper of a classic movie and inspired marketing campaign from 20 years ago.
Sadder than the dumb movie is the fact that no one involved could push the envelope on a classic genre in this day and age.
Avoid at all costs. Even if it offered free on Streaming it should come with a disclaimer, a pillow and a headrest.
An interesting premise is wasted and a legitimate potentially amazing updated marketing campaign is not up to the quote/unquote hype.
Not worth the time or pixels used to bring it to screen .
Not scary.
Not interesting.
Not original.
Not good.
