It's sad that so many biased people must have marked this excellent series down for bigoted, political reasons. JRM and his wife seemed to me to be likeable principled people bringing up their children in a calm, Christian manner. I thought the series was marvellous and fascinating. Such fun to see the children's reactions to things. As for Mrs Rees-,Mogg, I thought she was an absolute star. She stayed composed as events swirled around her, yet she somehow kept control. It was a very well put together series. Why were there only 5 episodes? I wanted it to go on and on. It was so refreshing and calming to see a family not cavorting in an insane manner as far too many celebs and those on TV do. It was an island of calm in a sea of madness and insanity.

I wanted to hate him, but I couldn't. JRM is a quintessential English toff whom I have wrongly despised for many years. After watching this 5 part series, I can honestly say that I've a new found respect for him as a good father, loving husband, God fearing devout Catholic, hard working, impecably well mannered gent!!!. Was he born with a silver spoon in his mouth, yes. Did he want for anything growing up, probably not. Does that make him evil, no. This series shows a human side to JRM that I would never have believed existed in a million years. Mentally tough as old boots, likeable and humourus. He refuses to allow even a modicum of unkindness penetrate his forcefield of positivity. 10/10 Insightful and entertaining.
I decided to fork out forDiscovery and I knew I'd love watching this family.
I love watching the upper crust, who have a polite and courteous way about them. Far better than watching 'lower crust', who swear and show their bigotry towards all who have more than them.
Boy there are some aggravating and rude bigots around, and how wonderful to see a well-brought up person dealing with it, so perfectly.
This is the beautry of a nurtured and secure upbringing, it's part of you and all the attacks from others cannot take it away. His wife is so perfect, if only more wives were as sweet, and respectful to the husbands and sons - we'd have more alpha males in the world.
One thing Jacob is not - is divisive!! The divisiveness is only there because of jealous bigots who hear his accent, know his financial worth, see that he'a public school, and that all heaps up their bigot behaviour.
Those people speaking so badly on the street, don't know him they only know of him and as already mentioned-his upper crustness. Thank God that this nation was built by our upper crust and religious citizenry from when Christianity first came to our shores.
I'm from working class, and that is why I can look objectively at the wonderful legacy of the better Britons of our nation.
I have always looked for example in the people around me, or those I like, and this family is one great example, of freedom to grow, so that the children are instilled with their own parents' confidence, respect for all people and peace, in the face of nasty behaviour from the 'hoy polloy' Bigotry, spun by envy and accorded the hatred learnt through unlovely upbringings are the main problem in the world, and especially in Britain.

Giving this vapid buffoon and his family a platform to show their life must be one of the most ill conceived tv shows of all time.
Rees-Moggs has consistently shown how much of an elitist moron he is, completely out of touch with the general public. Anyone who has the misfortune to tune into this will suffer the consequences and should sue the program makers for PTSD.
I'd much rather watch someone fold their socks and gently pick their nasal hair then this rubbish.
I'm sure some will find some morbid enjoyment of watching this family display their classless life for the cameras, but this is definitely not for me.

I absolutely loved this. I don't agree with Jacob on everything but I found him endearing and quirky. He holds dear tradition and family values, a true British gentleman which was lovely to watch. A great father and incredibly dedicated to his work. A font of knowledge and interests I could listen to him for hours. I'd love a one on one conversation with him. I hope he stands as MP again he deserves it. I also liked all the staff he employs who are clearly loyal and free to be themselves. Not afraid to be open to criticism and gracious in defeat. It must be difficult for the kids who are also subject to the strain of their parent being a politician. Well done Jacob and family.
