Avis à la une
It is a realistic movie. There is good amount of authenticity in the background-setting and the presentation of characters. The comedy genre is not conventional, it is rather tending towards dark comedy. The humour is good and the narration is pretty impressive.
I am surprised by the beating this movie has received at the hands of many critics for not being up to the mark. I don't know which world these critics live in, as this movie is far better than the 95% Bollywood trash out there.
I do not know why the overall rating is so low. I loved everything about the movie. Direction, storytelling, acting, everything. The bollywood movie mafia never appreciated good movie and this is an example. This is ahead of time. I am sure it will be appreciated more in future.
In this movie, Nawaz is a from a middle-class guy with desi humour and local language accent. Quite interesting!
Everyone has a dream which basically creates a purpose in life in order to achieve it. You need to believe in your dreams, cherish and protect it and make sure nobody takes it away from you. After a waiting period of 5 years, the Nawazuddin Siddiqui aspiring story writer drama Ghoomketu finally makes to Zee5 platform. Is it worth watching ? Let us find out.
Ghoomketu tells the story of an aspiring story writer (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who runs away from his home owing to a consistent nagging father, an over-sized-always-hungry spouse whom he accidentally marries and a careless step-mom. The only saving grace is his aunt (Ila Arun) who encourages him to follow his dream and make it big in Mumbai.
Directed by Pushpendra Nath Misra, Ghoomketu rest on a very simple plot but it is the performances of the star cast, quirky and catchy dialogues and hilarious comic scenes which makes it an enjoyable ride. For the first few minutes, Ghoomketu goes as a passable flick but the plot becomes interesting after 20 minutes with funny scenes involving the anger management of Dadda (Raghuvir Yadav). There is an amazing scene where Raghuvir Yadav refuses to go home and eat food with his brother but the moment he realizes that his favourite dish is prepared, he just stands up without uttering a single word.
There are couple of flashback scenes which takes you to the black and white world describing the past stories where the director does a good job in narrating them. Ghoomketu becomes more interesting when Nawazuddin uses genres like drama, comedy, sci-fi and horror to tell his stories about the real-life characters (agelast, Overzealous, grouch) whom we see around us in our daily life and it will certainly bring down the house.
The script loses the steam towards the end and I wish the comedy-drama could have maintained the momentum it built initially. The art direction is pretty simple but nice with no glossy sets. Cinematography is decent while the background music is just about okay.
As a first time director, Pushpendra Nath Misra does a fine job in sketching the characters of Ghoomketu, except for Anurag Kashyap's cop role which could have been made better. Coming to the performances, there are three principle characters in Ghoomketu without whom the film would have been completed.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the heart-beat of Ghoomketu. The supremely talented actor fits into a role of a struggling write without putting much effort. After Panchayat, Raguvir Yadav gives yet another splendid performance this year. However, the best dialogue delivery is done by Ila Arun who will surely win your heart with her electrifying performance. You will love her in scenes where she is prays at a temple wishing well for Ghoomketu and the scene where she pretends to get scared when Ghoomketu tells a horror story. Other actors like does part well.
Ghoomketu boast off special appearances right from Chitrangda Singh, Ranveer Singh, Sonkashi Sinha and Amitabh Bachchan which goes well with the theme of a Bollywood struggling writer.
So overall, Ghoomketu turned out to be better than expected. It is a good watch if you are looking for light-hearted comic scenes. Enjoyable 3/5

The story is too confusing , at times there are scenes where the cinema book chapters are played & at times his villages. Few scenes were clearly avoidable. The supporting cast must have been supporting only but their screen time is too long.
Anurag's scenes could have been avoidable, they dont add to the main script. The 1st police station scene was too long, it was as if he is the main lead.
The village cast is interesting & funny.
