Anecdotes
The film was originally called Deadtona/Deltona. But the director changed the title to Deadtona after shortening the film.

Gaffes
After Richie hears his father's message from his cell, all of the group hear the banging from the window. Notice to the left of the door that there's a pampers box on the ground. In the next clip, it's not there.

Versions alternatives
In the alternate version, a final video log is presented showing Scott and Kimberly's father in El Salvador. As he speaks to the camera telling how everything is with his trip, people in the background begin to scream and run away. Then someone comes running towards the window growling. A woman's voice calls for his aid because someone has been bitten. Then the video shuts off.
