This could've been something special. Imma keep this review short and sweet. I went into this expecting it to be bad, and thank God it wasn't that. The trailer didn't appeal to me at all but I went into it with an open mind anyways. I enjoyed the show for the most part but this show has one massive problem. The fanservice. It's fanservice galore. MCU style fanservice. Fanservice to the extreme. So much fanservice that interactions feel forced and it genuinely breaks the lore of Dexter, particularly in the last 2 episodes of the show. The stuff with Brian and Deb greatly holds this show down. Deb's subplot concludes at the end, with her joining the police academy but my God is it so forced. The dialogue that convinces her to join is terrible. Her subplot with her boyfriend holds nearly every episode down, especially episode 8 which could've been amazing but settled at great.
The flashbacks have this annoying God awful piss filter that makes them hard to watch, the editing is downright bad for some episodes, and the main villain, Captain Spencer, is acted well by Patrick Dempsey but has to be one of the worst villains of the Dexter world. So shallow and boring, despite having good set up.
Overall, this show isn't bad. I think this a lot of good character work for Dexter, it's interesting seeing him starting out, and Gibson as Dexter and Slater as Harry kill it. It's entertaining for the most part. It just has a bad case of prequelitis and fanservice galore.
Best Episodes:
1. Business and Pleasure 2. Miami Vice 3. The Big Bad Body Problem
Best Characters:
1. Dexter Morgan 2. Harry Morgan 3. Idk who else tbh
Overall: 5/10.

I debated whether I should review this as an actual movie (Because let's be honest it's not. And i'm not even just saying that but it makes no effort to be art. This entire "film" is anti art) but I decided i'd keep it short and simple. Honestly, in terms of enjoyment level, this would be a 5 star. All for the wrong reasons. This film clearly takes itself seriously, yet I couldn't stop laughing at the abysmal CGI, horrid character decisions, and horrendous acting. This is one of the best comedies of the year! Naked Gun has competition. This was made even worse because I watched an actual competently made film in F1 and loved that. This piece of crap Amazon commercial disguised as a film can go to hell.
All in all, watch this (Sail the seas. Don't give Amazon a cent of your money to watch this) if you want a good laugh for an hour and 30 minutes. But if you come in expecting a good film, you'll be sorely disappointed. Without a doubt, one of the worst films of all time.
Overall: 0.5/10 Top #10 worst film of all time.

Honestly, I felt like I should've watched this in theaters. The racing is intense and this has some brilliant direction, cinematography, and sound. I mean, I get why I didn't. I'm not the biggest racing fan and I know absolutely zero about F1. But even with that, I went into this movie with an open mind today. I heard the good reviews and I wanted a pallet cleanser from War of the Worlds. I'll say this, most of the negative/mixed reviews I've seen are from people that think this movie is formulaic. And I'd agree with them. But here's the thing. This film wasn't made to reinvent the sports/racing genre. It wasn't made to add something new or deconstruct. It was meant to entertain and be feel good. And that's exactly what it did and it executed well. I don't understand everyone's obsession with wanting everything to be like Schindler's List. Not everything aims or attempts to be that and certainty not this movie, which is relatively paint by the numbers. I will say this, I was debating whether I should rate this a 7.5 or an 8 but that last act pushed me to give it an 8. I'm not the biggest fan of the second act. It was getting boring and a lot of melodrama just wasn't interesting. I only cared about Damson and Brad's characters as well, but their beef was getting a little repetitive. That's probably because of the absurdly long runtime. It felt like the second act dragged a little. Definitely the worst act of the film. You could easily make this 2 hours or less and it'd have similar results.
Other than that, I really liked Sonny's and Joshua's dynamic, especially at the end of the film. I didn't really care for any other character but whatever. The action is incredible and shot really well. The editing and sound design is so damn good and sleek. Everything looks and feels nice. This truly feels like a film from traditional hollywood from 20 years ago.
I honestly loved this movie toward the ending.
Overall: 8/10.
