I'm not generally a fan of nature series, but The Wild Ones is decidedly different from what I'd normally expect to see. For that reason, it's absolutely must-watch television.
The six episodes highlight six very specific endangered species, some of which have never or rarely been seen by human eyes. The three featured guys aren't professional researchers; they're experts in logistics and photography, so they're down-to-earth and generally in awe of the creatures they're searching for and the terrain they call home.
If you're looking to see tons of shots of animals, you'll be very disappointed (except maybe in the last episode), as most of the payoff shots come in the last few minutes. However, if you're up for a series of nearly impossible missions, you'll likely enjoy The Wild Ones as much as I did.
Hopefully, there are more episodes to come in the future. If not, these are a great testament to the tremendous efforts of three men in promoting conservation and animal welfare. Rating: 9.5.

If you watch only one episode of The Wild Ones, make it this one. Without giving anything away (after all, the title of the episode is "Whales"), this is the only one that's not on land, so it's completely different than the other five. As a result, the footage is unique and distinctly unusual.
Plus, unlike the other episodes where most of the real payoff comes in the last few minutes, "Whales" features a wealth of amazing shots of the right whale, including a number of injured ones.
Finally, without giving anything away, there's one particularly dramatic section of the show that really blows this episode out of the water.
I urge you to watch the entire series, but if you're looking for one episode to test drive, "Whales" is certainly your best bet. Having said that, do yourself a favour and watch the entire series. It's amazing!

I'd agree 100% with one of the other reviewers who said that just because you can't stand certain characters in a movie (e.g., the mother and daughter in Echo Valley), it doesn't diminish the quality of the film.
This movie shows the dangers of a weak-willed parent enabling an addicted child - and it does it amazingly well. My wife and I were riveted and the movie literally zipped by because we couldn't stop watching the screen.
It definitely helps if you can suspend your disbelief occasionally or ignore a few obvious plot holes. If you can do that, this movie will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what insanity will happen next. Plus, your imagination will definitely run wild during the final scene, wondering what direction the insanity will go in next. I highly recommend Echo Valley - 8.8.
