This is a great conclusion to the trilogy. It takes place 8 years after the previous movie, and Bruce has become a recluse due to grief. It's hard to see a hero fall, but that makes it even more satisfying to see that hero rise again. This movie deals a little more with Bruce's psyche and portrays him as more human than in the 1st two movies. Like the others, this movie had lots of action and suspense, but it was more about Bruce's internal journey, which is what leads him to be a hero - not the fancy gadgets (though those help). I did think that Bruce's stint as being lovers with Miranda was odd. It felt like they barely knew each other, and Bruce was solidly against her business proposals, and then all of a sudden they were intimate. That didn't make a lot of sense. Although the movie is long, I also felt that the ending was rushed. The viewer is kind of left to piece things together. But I thought Anne Hathaway was an excellent Catwoman. She was seductive and self-serving, but her character was also hard to hate because she had some...maybe not moments of "goodness", but of moments doing something that would also benefit someone other than herself. Overall, it was a great movie, and attention-grabbing.
Although this movie is darker than my usual tastes, I really liked this - it's an excellent superhero film. The pacing is fast, and the plot is well-developed. I also like that it deals with some important themes involving human nature, the tendency towards good vs. Evil, the lasting effects of child abuse, and true altruism. The Joker is a despicable but fascinating character - he isn't just a flat villain but a damaged and psychologically ill person with a sad backstory. Batman/Bruce, on the other hand, at times appears to other characters to have questionable motives and to be self-serving, but it becomes apparent that he is profoundly good. He is willing to do whatever it takes, even to sacrifice his reputation and allow others to believe he is villainous, to save the citizens of Gotham. The special effects are well-executed and believable, and there is a sense of suspense and urgency throughout. I did not find the plot to be predictable. I didn't have any expectation that the ending of this movie was destined to have a positive or negative outcome. It felt like it could go either way, which kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this movie to superhero fans.
I'm new to the superheroes genre. I've never read a comic book and had only ever seen 2 other superhero movies from start to finish (I tried 2 others but stopped because I couldn't get into them). I enjoyed this movie. It was easy to follow even though I didn't know any of the characters in advance. I liked how it showed how the Batman persona began, it was helpful in understanding his character. I also liked the message of facing your fears, incorporating your trauma into your being, and using it to make yourself and the world better. The movie was fast-paced, and I enjoyed the cool gadgets. It kept my attention throughout, and the amount of suspense was just right. I thought the acting and special effects were good as well. This movie made me want to try out some more superhero movies.
