I am a massive Kaitlin Olson fan. I have watched every episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia multiple times. I loved The Mick. I am so pumped Kaitlin Olson's talent is being stretched from her normal comedy (which she has mastered) and especially slapstick comedy (which she has specifically mastered) to encompass a detective drama. She's amazing in this. Her vulnerable and emotional scenes are so good and seamless. If you are a fan of Kaitlin Olsen, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Detective fiction, Hercules Poiroit types or if you are just also a scrappy mom you will vibe with this show. The supporting cast is really good and the storylines are great. I am so glad I finally started watching this.
I have never watched a Hallmark Christmas movie but I was born and raised in Bethlehem, PA so I watched this with my BFF (also from Bethlehem). This movie is garbage. The plot is absurd. It's entirely filmed on a soundstage with some overview shots of Pittsburgh and then a few shots of the Moravian Church in Downtown Bethlehem. There is no realistic rendition or portrayal of Bethlehem, PA (and no one in PA constantly refers to it as Pennsylvania). It's not a farming community and there isn't an Inn. Yes I got the Mary, Jesus and Joseph references, I'm not thick, I was raised where Jesus was born for Pete's sake (wink). Don't lure me in with nostalgia from my hometown (WHICH IS CHRISTMAS CITY USA LITERALLY, WHAT A LOST OPPORTUNITY) and then give me this Christian Hallmark Propaganda. What a waste of time.
This show is so good. As much as I would have loved another season I think the quality of each episode was superb. I like Amy Schumer and her humor but I am fully aware she isn't for everyone. This is not her standup or sketch show at all. This show is super deep and thoughtful (still with touches of lol humor) in comparison to Schumer's previous work. I think a lot of people have these hauntings from their pasts- whether it's your parents divorce, a crappy relationship, financial hardship, whatever- and the flashbacks of young Beth and her upbringing (which were largely based on Schumer's childhood) in comparison to adult Beth was so relatable and it felt cathartic and therapeutic even if it was sometimes difficult to watch (brava to the young actresses). We've all gone through hard stuff and need to figure out a way through the other side. I also loved the character of John, Michael Cera did an amazing job and of course I know he was based on Chris Fischer. They really did a great job on this show. I am so impressed.
