The edge has been lost off the comedy through the years, understandably with the risks of cancel culture, and it shows. However, this show was surely never supposed to be about pushing the comedy envelope. This was pure sentimentality for the huge Gavin and Stacy fan base and gave a perfect ending. Ruth Jones in particular stands head and shoulders above the norm as Nessa, and deserves 10 stars for her acting alone. To be able to make a caricature of a character so believable and make my heart break for her is quite a feat. The speech by Larry Lamb was also a great addition and, I won't lie to you, had me welling up in no time. Thank you to all the brilliant cast and crew for giving us the ending we all wanted.
We went to see this as we were gifted free tickets. I wasn't expecting much. The first film is such an incredible piece of cinema history this was always going to have an uphill struggle to compete. I went expecting the worse. The reviews had been pretty mixed. However, was surprisingly enjoyable. Denzel obviously stands out and makes even the most ridiculous scenes believable. However I was also surprised by Paul Mescal. The character he plays is pretty understated, and he carried that perfectly. It is as much a skill to play a normal guy as it is to play a war-decorated general. I'm glad his character was so different to that of Maximus. I had an invested interest in seeing his story through. I'd recommend seeing this film and making up your own mind on the film's entertainment value.
Just don't ask me about the sharks or the statue likeness ;)

Beautifully shot sea and skyscapes provide the perfect setting, it is a work of art. This is one of the most underrated movies out there. The cinematography was pretty unusual for its time and gives the movie a quirkiness that separates it from similar in its genre.
The two leads are excellently played by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. The chemistry between Sonny and Isabella is tangible and really makes, what is on script, a totally unworkable romance, completely believable.
The plot line moves on at a good pace, never getting bogged down into details that often make crime drama drag or become overly analytical.
