Director Josh Cooley (who directed the very good & emotional sequel Toy Story 4) has created a really well done Origin Story for our childhood heroes.
I grew up on Transformers, i had the toys & I was obsessed with Transformers The Movie (1986) the original animated movie & still the best film in the whole Transformers franchise!!!
The Autobot leader Optimus Prime was always my favourite Transformer, I liked how he was a heroic type, a leader & a warrior fighting for good. His design always stood out to me with his cool look & with his red & blue colored armor that was eye catching to me as a kid. Also Optimus had the coolest voice of them all & later became iconic as voiced by Peter Cullen.
The Michael Bay Transformers films were a big CGI mess with each movie feeling exhausting & way over long. I never took to the design of Optimus Prime in those films but I do think the very first 2007 Transformers movie was decent enough because it felt like a Spielberg movie. The first sequel "Revenge of the Fallen" wasn't too bad either, a bit OTT but decent enough at times but I stopped watching from then on. I saw bits & pieces of the other films of Bays Transformers & they looked terrible, especially when Mark Wahlberg joined the cast, I like him but the films had gotten even worse by then.
The Transformers franchise got better when BumbleBee got his own movie. BumbleBee the movie was very good, very well done & hit me with it's Nostalgia with it being set in the 1980's. Bumble Bee was a well told Story full of heart.
After BumbleBee came "Rise of the Beasts" which i really enjoyed, it was a period piece once again this time set in the early 90's & I felt the vibes & Nostalgia of it. Optimus Prime was done right in Rise of the Beasts & the movie actually really felt like a 90's Action Sci-fi Blockbuster, like it could've came out in the 90's. I was super impressed with Rise of the Beasts & I think it's the best Transformers movie since the original 1986 Classic.
From Beasts came this fully CGI animated adventure called Transformers One, an Origin story that shows us how Megatron became Megatron & why Megatron & Optimus Prime are such sworn Enimies.
There's a slight buddy movie at it's heart here in One as a young Prime & Tron are friends trapped working in the mines under Cybetron. They both want to escape the depressing situation their both trapped in as working class Robots but really seem to be slaves to their government. A government that we later find out is corrupted & ran by a corrupted leader, very relevant & real world weary.
This adventure is about the escape from underground to the surface of Cybertron with a few other Robots that come along, one of them being the fan favourite BumbleBee, who is absolutely hilarious & voiced by the always funny Keegan Michael- Key here & pretty much steals the show at times. The humour or laugh out loud moments are from BumbleBee.
I liked the designs here of the Robots & the voice work is excellent. Marvel legend Chris Hemsworth voices this younger Prime & has a real confident & in control & friendly voice which is pretty perfect for a Prime whose destiny becomes about leadership & fighting for good.
The younger Megatron is voiced by Brian Tyree Henry & does an excellent job of portrayal Tron as a good Robot who turns to anger because of his belief in their leader is destroyed when when they discover the corruption & betrayal. I could totally understand Megatron's rage & hatred & hunger for vengeance so it gave the character more of a deeper backstory of how he became this destructive evil enemy & leader of the Decepticons. The animation is excellent in thought especially the underground futuristic cities of Cybertron. I got cyberpunk vibes & a pinch of Blade Runner with the dark grittiness & glowing neon lights. The character designs look great with an old school blocky Toyetic look, like your action figures came to life. Fans will like spotting many of the Transformers characters in this movie, I loved seeing Soundwave & Starscream (here voiced hilariously by Steve Buscemi) & I liked the adventure our small group of Robots go on. They discover they're own history & legend of Cybertron & the Robots that died fighting for it. Also the magical Matrix is here & looked exactly like the one in the Masterpiece 1986 movie. There's many nice touches to this Transformers movie & this One acts as the Origin story to all the franchise, it's the beginning for our Transformers.
There's plenty of action & some fun moments & good humour scattered throughout & the film doesn't out stay it's welcome.
If you like Transformers or especially if you grew up on the original ones then you will like this CG animated movie.
A good adventure tale, buddy movie & a welcomed entry into the franchise.

A good adventure tale, buddy movie & a welcomed entry into the franchise.
First off I will say that this little indie type, extremely low-budget British Vigilante Thriller is what the Cult Movie Genre is all about.
I First caught this movie on TV late one night & it was about maybe 15 mins into it, so I missed the beginning but for some reason the film grabbed my attention right away. I couldn't stop watching it, maybe it was the raw bleak British feel to it or maybe it was the rough & ready harsh nature of it, or maybe it was the gorgeous Cinematography & moving music that accompanied the characters & scenes? Or maybe it was the totally engrossing nature of the unforgettable performance of Paddy Considine's lone tortured soldier wondering around the bleak landscapes of the midlands.
Paddy's performance is almost haunting because of his actions & what made him to it.
I think all elements made this film a standout piece of filmmaking.
Dead Man's Shoes feels like the type of low-budget gritty raw type of cult film that could've easily have come out during the 1970's or very early 80's. Underrated Actor Paddy Considine (The Girl With All The Gifts) delivered a performance that stays with you always. Like Robert De Niro did with his Travis Bickle character in the Classic Taxi Driver (1976), Paddy created a tortured man with so much rage deep inside himself & a personal mission in his mind. There's slight comparisons there as both are troubled men who turn to vigilante Justice in order to get done what needs to be done. A personal quest of vengeance & blood. Equally the raw quality of Dead Man's Shoes has slight echoes of the young tortured John Rambo (Stallone) in the very first Rambo film, First Blood (1981) as felt with Paddy's dangerous soldier Richard, as he wonders around in his dark green army jacket & with a look of extreme deadly danger on his face & with the weather cold, wet & bleak. I love how Director Shane Meadows (This Is England) crafted his vigilante tale in that same old school mould & just set his story in a simple little town surrounded by countryside in the Midlands. The set up feels all too real.
Troubled soldier Richard has returned to his home town to take vengeance on the local gang of scruffy, drugged up, useless scum that bullied his younger brother who has special needs & that makes him extremely vulnerable & unfortunately an easy target for the heartless gang of scum.
The younger brother, played to perfection by Toby Kebbell (The Veteran), holds onto his older & tougher soldier brother Richard, seems they only have each other. The brotherly love aspect is done beautifully & heartbreaking at the same time. Flickers of old home video footage of the brothers growing up together hits you in the heart.
The reasons for Richard's mission of blood vengeance is in my opinion completely justified. I agree with his actions, because as we know in real life, especially here in England, the system is a joke, it's completely corrupted & the system is all for the evil scum & not the victims. So if he left it, there would be NO JUSTICE AT ALL. Vigilante Justice is actually the only way for any kind of justice, that's why the brutal British vigilante flick OUTLAW (2007) was made as a response to Broken Britain & it's lawless society.
Anyway politics aside, Dead Man's Shoes is a powerful little film with a big heart at it's centre. Yes Richard is unhinged & pretty much loses himself with what he has to do, but you can always totally understand why he does it.
What what you do in his situation?
The Local gang of useless wasters are played really well by people that just seem naturally real, like mindless idiots in their natural habitat. The main villain here is the bully gang leader played by Gary Stretch in a performance that he plays so well, done a great job as a cocky, slimy, Vindictive & bullying type that really is nothing without his mates around him.
Everything in Dead Man's Shoes feels real & grounded in a gritty & realistic style. There's as much character drama here as there small bursts of brutality & those little character moments in between, like with the Brothers, gives a tenderness to contrast all the raw violence.
Also Shane Meadows sprinkled slight humor amongst the characters & it works.
I truly believe Dead Man's Shoes will gain more & more popularity in years to come. The film already is one of best regarded British films of all-time but it will grow more & more over time. Especially with how England is now in 2025!!! That dark, gritty & violent world of Dead Man's Shoes is here now, the film felt real of course but now I believe all the events in the film could easily happen today in real life. In fact the stuff you hear about now in today's times is even worse than anything in this movie. Times are savage & Dead Man's Shoes will be a film people keep coming back to for many reasons, even a source of comfort in a way because atleast Richard does something about these horrible depraved people.
Dead Man's Shoes is like, or echoes slightly that of another 70's bleak, brutal & dark vigilante thriller, Death Wish (1974) the gritty film starring Charles Bronson. But Dead Man's Shoes still feels much more real even compared to that Classic.

Thank you to Director Matt Reeves for creating this instant CLASSIC, Dark Detective Masterpiece or Stone-cold Cult Classic, Whatever you call it, no doubt The Batman is the greatest Batman movie ever made.
Like the 2025 SUPERMAN, this is an instant CLASSIC, both Masterpieces in my opinion. Both the best of their characters on screen. Both the best movies of their characters. I think David Corenswet is the greatest SUPERMAN ever. I also think Robert Pattinson as Batman is possibly the best of all time!!! Side by side with Ben Affleck. But by far Pattinson's Batman movie is the best of the franchise, as is Corenswet's Superman.
Robert Pattinson was perfectly cast as a young tortured Bruce Wayne who spends his nights dressed up as a Vigilante called The Batman. Pattinson is excellent & captured that silent intensity that fits perfectly with his sombre environment. I personally think Pattinson is the best Batman, i look at him as the younger version of Ben Affleck's Dark Knight. In my mind i connected the Batman universe with The Batman as a prequel to later on older & more rugged Affleck Batman, Basically Pattinson is Affleck when he first started out as the Dark Knight Vigilante. My two favourite Batman actors: Pattinson & Affleck. I personally think Matt Reeves The Batman is better than Nolan's whole Trilogy.
The Batman is excellent & is crafted in the mould of old school 70's, 80's & 90's Dark Detective Thriller's & the tone, Cinematography & music is absolutely beautifully perfect. The Gotham City featured here is a huge corrupted, crime-ridden, dangerous, extremely dark & rain drenched place of gritty atmosphere & relentless violence. Gotham City has never looked better or been as dangerous as predicted here!!!
From the outstanding opening to epic finale The Batman is never ever boring & that says something considering it's nearly 3hrs long.
The Darkness of Batman is captured best here & the mood is that of a Detective thriller which is awesome as Batman was always one of the world's greatest Detective's, but people forget that about the character.
The villain here is done perfectly, The Riddler here is portrayed as a typical demented serial killer like the type you get in real life & that can be seen on True Crime shows. Everything about The Batman is created to feel real. This movie is made like if Batman was real in a city full of violence & corruption how would he operate & they got it right as Pattinson's Batman is basically just a Vigilante, a young guy who puts on a costume to go beat the crap out of criminals similar to that of say Casey Jones from TMNT (1990).
Some of the shots in this movie standout as beautiful & epic such as Batman deep in water in the pitch black with his hand up in the air holding a flare that lights up strong glowing red contestants with the inky black Darkness as he leads out some survivors from a flooded building. The cinematography is gorgeous is all its dark Gothic beauty.
This is The Batman we would need in real life like in today's world that is like Gotham City with all it's corruption, violence, endless chaos & misery. Just put on the News & see how bad times are right now in 2025!!! This is The Batman we need for real.
Without going on about every moment & character (which are all cast perfectly with excellent performances) I'm just gonna say this epic Vigilante thriller is a Masterpiece. So much more than just a comic-book movie.
