Paul's father owned a restaurant across from a movie theater, which is where Paul lived for most of his childhood. Robert Altman's Popeye (1980) was the first movie he ever saw and loved. He also watched Pennies from Heaven (1981) and Arthur (1981) every day of their theatrical runs.
