Lots of good reviews here. However couldnt really recommend. The adult actors let it down, script and direction were stilted or unrealistic. The background music often didnt really work. However it was a worthwhile attempt -and did pretty well for the low budget.
Great premise, a movie for teenagers and adults. Solid script, funny moments and mostly a heartfelt topic that touches the lives of each of us: the addiction to technology and how much we're missing out in life.
This film has a Nickelodeon or After School Special vibe and concerns four teens undergoing digital withdrawal when their parents remove social media from their lives. They learn the value of meaningful relationships through actual interaction and develop strong friendships. It's competently shot and edited possessing a light tone.
A sweet-natured film with an interesting premise! Technology has certainly been a detriment to human interaction in many instances, and the idea of making people interact with a 30-day tech time-out is actually a great idea for everyone. But getting teens to give up their tech? That's a genuine source of conflict between kids and parents in real life. In this movie, five kids are mostly respectful of their parents forcing this idea on them, and also of forcing those kids to hang together for a month. The very different teens don't like each other much at first, but grow to enjoy each other over their month together. This film offers more than a few fun moments too. One of my biggest pet peeves of entertainment that features teens is that adults and parents are mostly shown as worthy of nothing but ridicule. Not the case with this movie, as the adults are decent and smart, and are portrayed as such. The relationship between the lead character Normandy and her Grandmother (and bestie) is especially sweet natured. Overall, a nice showcase for the film makers and cast!
I'm not the best audience for a teen comedy, so read the review with this in mind. This film starts with a great idea, very much a concern in many households today, the total attention to electronics to the exclusion of everything else. Parents impose a 30 day moratorium on their 5 teens...no internet, no phones, etc. This could be a nice family film that might make youngsters think about relying more on personal interaction, tho some of the language might need to be adjusted for the younger crowd. Nehemiah Deason did a nice job as Bentley. The dialogue, exposition and scenes could use trimming with instead more visual communication between the actors. Less is more.
