Everything was uneven, the acting the presentation the visuals the effects. Talent lurks behind the mediocrity of the overall film and while this is an anthology the story that holds it together, not the couple but the greater story behind the couple is interesting creepy and well thought out the issue is in a few one or three of the chapters. Not a waste of time.

Do reviewers here understand how to reviewer a film with the star rating?? Those who give this a 7, 8, 9, or 10 are LAUGHABLE saying this film is on par with such greats as The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption, Society of the Snow, Pulp Fiction, etc. Really??? Have you lost your minds??? This purely is a 3-star movie, if that. I'm giving it 3 because the visual effects are decent and the girlfriend character is a better actress then this film deserves. I'll even go so far to say I could be convinced this is a 4-star film, but anything over a 5 is just the producers friends paying for good reviews. I had to leave this review after reading a 10-star and could not believe someone thinks that. Crazy, huh?

OCTAGON is good and bad in the ways that good creepypastas used to be. The visuals of this movie are jarring for sure, and I would argue that the effects and makeup are definitely effective. This is what makes the movie pretty uniquely scary, which I loved. A lot of the time, however, over the top and campy in its presentation. Too heavy on a lot of torture at times, and a MAJOR S*XUAL ASSAULT TRIGGER WARNING ON THIS MOVIE. The main achilleas heel of this movie is the inconsistent acting and writing, which ranges from laughably cheesy to intentionally strange and unsettling. Favorite short in the anthology is the Magician for sure, that was a trip

TLDR: Not great, definitely uniquely and interestingly scary. Worth watching, but understand its cheesy and overly intense.

Keeps you on your toes and always surprises you. The acting was good, especially to have several younger characters who did great as well. Keep watching until the end, you'll be surprised!

I've seen worse, not by much though. The gf is the best actress in the movie. At least she's believable, as the "star" is creepy, and not in a good horror movie way, either.
