Murder in the Woods

I gave it 3 stars for Danny Trejo's part....other than him this movie is not good.

You *know*, within a scene and a half, that this was basically a film student's final assignment. Had I not actually PAID to rent it after being VERY EASILY fooled by what appeared like positive reviews from underground horror critics, I could not have stomached the full hour and a half. The script & characters feel like they were concocted by a twelve year old who just saw Scream for the first time and thought "I could do that!"... and the acting... oh, god the acting.

LAUGHABLY bad performances by the majority of the cast, if not all of them. Predictable from beginning to end, as far as who the killer is and the pecking order of the victims.

The one thing I'll say is I didn't expect any kind of SFX to be successful, and they pulled that off better than anything else.

3.5/10 for actually completing their vision, against quite literally ALL the odds.

Something obviously is dodgy there.

Acting is very amateur and the plot does indeed seem the joyride script of a 12-year old kid who just saw a couple of slasher movies and wants to break in the film industry however when the killer (and his assistant!) are revealed it's a nice unexpected surprise and there is some twist too.

Didn't bore me but certainly not a title I will recommend. 4/10.

José Julián Bad acting at its finest. BTW do all These young actors go to the same acting school that teaches " no, no ,no, no" it's in most of these B movies that are poorly made.

Go back to acting and writing school. The movies coming out of Hollywood are mostly B fast tracked to meet a certain criteria and pushed out to the public to watch.

Creativity is gone and no one has an imagination enough to create something special, different and worthy for the public to spend time watching.

These writers can learn from the greats like Alfred Hitchcock. Let the audience imagine what's coming next, without you, having to show them all the blood and guts..

It's pretty much all I wanted it to be.

All the actors did good. Watching Catherine Toribio as Celeste was extra fun to me because of her mannerisms at times, which made me go, "What the?" in a way that I like. I like the song choices as well, which is not normal for my experience with these type of slasher flicks. I really like Soledad St. Hilaire as Nana. The last half of the third act, I found done quite well.

Ending kept me wondering. All in all, I really dig it!
