Jimmy Carr: The Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits

When you sit down to watch a Jimmy Carr show, you know what you are in for. And boy does he deliver once again here with this 2019 stand-up comedy special.

Jimmy Carr is a hilarious comedian, no doubt about it. And I really enjoy his unfiltered, crude and in-your-face approach to the jokes, the contents of the material and the hecklers in the audience. There is no filter here, and that is what makes his comedy so wonderfully funny.

The show is a tour de force from start to end, just as every single of his shows are. And you either love or loathe this comedian. Jimmy Carr spews offensive jokes that ensures great laughs throughout the course of the 58 minutes that the show runs for, and I was brought to wholehearted laughs many times during the show.

If you enjoy Jimmy Carr's comedy, then you will definitely also enjoy the 2019 show "Jimmy Carr: The Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits".

I had a bizarre reaction: even though I found ALL his material funny (and I wasn't at all offended by any of it), I was very, very bored. I even stopped and came back the next day, just 'to see.'

SAME response. So I just stopped halfway through.

I can't explain it. Very weird. I'll probably never watch him again.

His one liners are funny but it's nothing but one liners. There is no story, no theme, no drama, nothing tying any of it together. It's just a non-stop fully automatic barrage of one liners. So it's funny at any one moment in time, but ultimately empty and hollow.

I saw this show live in Copenhagen, and it was waaayyyy better than the performance here. I thought the shooting of the Netflix special would be the best site to tape it on this tour. I don't know if Dublin that night had a lame audience ( think it was Dublin ) or Jimmy had a bad night, but it was not really as funny as you would expect. And not even 1 hour long? Where was all the texts from the audience in the end of the show? Where was all the normal hecklers? Where was the good intro to wherever he was in the world? Disappointed...

Classic Jimmy Carr jokes so no problem with the material, it's him giving some of his best material from the past.

The thing I can't get over is the canned laughter track they've put after every joke and the endless camera cuts to different angles.

Every now and then it cuts to one of a few stock wide or rear angles showing the audience (not laughing, incidentally, while the laughter track is at full pelt).

Just really bizarre for a comedy special, I think he must have delivered this act to an empty theatre to get the close ups and rotating camera angles they used, then cut in some from the same named tour and smashed it together with a laugh track as fake as his.

Normally a fan but had to turn this off.
