Papa Smurf: [upon seeing the Smurfberry candy canes land on various Christmas tree branches; he gives a thumbs-up] Nice job, Clumsy.
Smurfette: So you see, Wild, Christmas is soooo Smurfy.
Papa Smurf: [approaching Smurfette, then lifting a gift to be delivered to Enchanted Homnibus then starts to leave] It certainly is, my little Smurfs. There's a special spirit of giving and sharing for everyone, not just Smurfs.
Clumsy Smurf: Gosh, where're you goin', Papa Smurf?
Papa Smurf: To deliver this gift to Enchanter Homnibus. When I return, we can *all* exchange gifts.
Brainy Smurf: Why can't we do that *now*?
Papa Smurf: [stopping in front of Snappy and Slouchy Smurfling] Because Grandpa and Sassette aren't back yet.
Snappy Smurfling: Smurfaroo, where did they go?
Papa Smurf: Grandpa decided to give Sassette her present a little early.

The Smurfs learn the true meaning of Christmas when they put their own plans to the side in order to help out a poor man with a sick wife. If you're a fan of the television show then there's no question that you're going to be entertained by this Christmas special, which pretty much does everything you'd expect a film like this to do. For starters, the film certainly gets across the Christmas spirit without having to preach. I really liked the way the film used the Smurfs to show how greed can ruin the holiday while if you help someone it will make your own holiday much better. There was also some pretty funny stuff here including the early stuff inside Smurf Village when Wild Smurf shows up destroying everything because he doesn't know what Christmas is. There's a subplot involving a thief that really never pays off too much but this is just a small problem. For the most part the animation is good and check out the bad guy who looks like a cross between Fred Flintstone and Gargamel.
