The Last Mango

The Last Mango had a few audio issues not many the film has a great story and script I was pleased and confused once or twice but all in all I was really impressed with how the film turns and weaves through the day in which this all takes place i know the entire audience was reacting to the events of the story I feel this movie will be out again once the public gets a chance to see the film it will leave a mark I am sure without a lot of gore as some films use to shock you The Last mango has moments of shock without the gore and one of my favorite endings I have seen in real Hollywood films, the Last mango may need a go over by the movie pros sound and some editing but I would say if you can find it go see it you will not regret it I can't give 10 stars but I will say 7 Thanks mango

I thought most of the dialogue for the Last Mango was well written and realistic, but the delivery of the lines by some of the actors and actress could have been better. The tag line has nothing to do with the movie. The technical aspects (lighting, audio, color and credits) need work. The movie has great potential. The overall concept was well portrayed. Some of the flashbacks were confusing; it left me with many unanswered questions. I was confused about the character of the gypsy; I wasn't sure where they were going with it. For the most part it was entertaining; my favorite character was scuba guy. I look forward to seeing the final cut.

I saw the viewing at Frederick. I found the beginning to be very captivating because there are bits and pieces of a violent attack, and there are black outs so it has mystery to it. The music was great. There were some audio issues in some parts. I thought there was too much of the Cadillac driving around and that made some of the movie drag. The Greaseman was very funny and the audience responded well to him. Most of the acting was good. I thought the Gypsy added an interesting foreboding quality to the movie. The characters need more depth, however. Some of the characters are too one-sided, while others are more developed. Much of the camera work was interesting and artistically done. Some of the characters did not make sense to the story and the movie needs to tie those characters in to the story better. The conversation with the guys in the bar dragged on a bit and it needs to be cut down. It was a dramatic film, artistic, with a lot of potential. just needs some fixing.

I saw the film twice, first time not so great (tech issues) and not a great edit at all, but the audience seem to follow it better than I did. which made me want to see it a second time 2nd time Excellent Film! much better film and a different edit, much better and shocking! although there are some small areas that still need to be made to look like film. The director did a great job with making this really interesting but yet you don't feel like your watching a film, it feels real or happens so fast you think its real I am sure they did some improv because the acting was very good almost to real, the writing was great, and of coarse anyone who sees this film will remember "The Greaseman" forever, I am sure if this film gets out, he will become a huge star. The director of the film has his own style which I thought was refreshing and completely different than anything I have ever seen. This is a must see for anyone who likes a really good independent film. One of the few movies I would watch a third time, to try to see why I was not able to predict it better. By then I am sure they will have polished it to a diamond

When was the last time an independent movie garnished so much attention and controversy? Apparently, "The Last Mango" has been raising up a storm of emotionally challenging reviews which question the Director's true intent. John Calvin Doyle, wrote and directed "Fishing with Tink and Earl" and "The Falsetoes" as improbable as could be, both movies shine with a comedic brilliance, in an extraordinarily low budget tone. Doyle has brought a new face to the indy genre of the Baltimore/DC metropolitan area, a face that includes his latest project, "The Last Mango" which experiments with the darkly humorous, grotesque side of happy hour, drugs and betrayal, darkly lit back alleys and lots of old muscle cars. John Calvin Doyle has faced an exceptionally challenging audience with a bold and adventurous tale that is not a happy walk through the park. In his editing devices, Doyle has experimented with lighting, sound and surrealism in his shooting techniques. He has broken ground to the concept of independent film and should be credited to his artistic achievement with designing some of the greatest character actors to grace an independent film.
