Alien: Containment

Well, this wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. To put it simply, it was a bit blah. The short leans heavily on tropes we've all seen before. Think of the iconic 1982 film The Thing-a masterclass in suspicion and paranoia over who's been assimilated by the alien parasite. Here, we get the same setup: endless guesswork, mistrust, and even a blood test. And the ending? One of the most overused twists in movies, cartoons, and comics. Worst of all, we never even get to see the xenomorph! Still, I'll give it credit for the amazing space scenes.

... but I won't give it away. All I can say is it really did A L I E N justice!

Its definitely the best short out of the six. It was well acted!

Containment really manages to settle itself into the Alien universe perfectly. In fact, the best part of the short is the story it didn't tell, as the plot itself is actually an aftermath of a prior Xeno infestation on a now destroyed vessel. Though Gaia Wess' character is kind of a 'non-character', Theo Biggs manages to set the tone with his frantic, if not slightly hammy performance as a terrified and paranoid crewmember. Unfortunately, the Wey-Yu doctors' performance was probably the weakest of three, but she still gets the job relatively well done.

I also appreciate the risk of adding a bit of dark humour to the short in the post-credit scene, something that could have totally ruined the entire short if botched. Overall, a pretty damn good short that captures the aesthetics and tone of Alien very well.

Of course with the creature rarely making an appearance will create a greater horror to the film. But that was just a chestburster right?? It can't be that dangerous (except the fact if they open the door, the chestburster can escape and grew into an adult easily, cause lots of deaths in the station).
