फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
A touching little tale with themes of artistry and a morale to fight for the expression of your unique voice. The diegesis, or the rules of the world the film is set in were delightfully creative. You can definitely see Stockholm as a location, but through the veil of Henrik Pilerud's eyes. As a director he adds a flare of surrealism. And I love those abstract, fantastical ideas. Why not have a Sweden where Trolls and magical beings exist? I for sure did the DiCaprio pointing thing to the screen many times throughout the watch. So happy to see many performers and places I know get their spotlight. Especially proud for my friend Nathalie portraying the character Mya. After a while I even forgot it was her since I was immersed in the story.
Many diamonds to cherish in this work of art. I'll never forget Mya finding friendship with the Stone Creature. Very touching. I recommend this to anyone who's pursuing to share their own visions to the screen. Perhaps you'll feel inspired to not let that story stay only a dream. Hope to see more independent artists get a chance to share their passion projects like this!

"If you enjoy H. P. Lovecraft stories" then you will be sorely disappointed by this artistic fluff piece. Starting with a half attempt of introducing the main character in an odd world in the past, I had a hard time getting past the 'artists have different brains that don't conform' trope.
There's twists and turns but none of it feels worrisome or dangerous. The main character is pretty aloof and contrived but at least realizes at one point her parents raised her too sheltered and she needs a thicker skin. Going through the paces of 'getting life experience' a story is told but it never drew me in and then it was over. Maybe a more artistic mind would appreciate this, maybe I'm not the audience for this. Just rating on an acting and writing observation it doesn't live up to the higher rating this movie has.

Now, I had virtually no expectations to the 2022 movie "Call of the Unseen" from writer and director Henrik Pilerud. I had never heard about the movie prior to stumbling upon it by random chance here late in 2022. And I must admit that the movie's cover was a bit corny. But still, it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, so of course I opted to do so as I had the opportunity.
And color me impressed. Wow. This movie was such a wonderful surprise. I was genuinely entertained by what writer and director Henrik Pilerup managed to put together here. Sure, he was heavily drawing upon inspiration from various H. P. Lovecraft stories, but that is what made "Call of the Unseen" such an appealing movie. The entire movie was just permeating with a pendulous and gibbous Lovecraftian atmosphere. And I have to say that it was right up my alley.
While the storyline started out a bit monotonous and mundane, then director Henrik Pilerup quickly started to introduce elements of supernatural and otherworldly influences, and that definitely spiced things up.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in "Call of the Unseen", but they had some good talents on the cast list, and the movie was nicely carried by leading actress Nathalie Merchant.
Visually then "Call of the Unseen" was quite good, and given the budget of the movie then I am really impressed with the special effects that they churned out for the movie. Not to mention the amazing wardrobe and costume designs, as well as the great locations and a very out-of-this-world musical score.
If you enjoy H. P. Lovecraft stories, then you definitely should sit down and watch "Call of the Unseen". This is something I can strongly recommend.
My rating of "Call of the Unseen" lands on a very well-deserved seven out of ten stars.

I didn't expect much from this film, but it pulled me right in. Loved the atmosphere and the feeling it had. Some people claim there's a big Lovecraftian influence here, but I don't see it. Not that many tentacles to be honest. The story was fine. Could have been better, but to quote Todd Howard "it just works". I don't know the actors, but they did a good job portraying these characters. Overall I hope this director will carry on with his work, so we can get even better movies from him in the future. This was a surprise, but a welcome one. Watch it... or maybe you already did? Time holds no dominion here.
Who the intended target audience for this unusual cinematic experience might be remains an uncertainty.
Somewhat overstated story-wise but with a climax well worth waiting for.
All in all, a curious adventure film greatly enhanced by its mysterious atmosphere, two impressive leads and a sensitive musical score.
The story follows art student Mya (played by Nathalie Merchant, star of "Calypso") who loses all faith in her own work following a ruthless take down by the curator of coveted gallery Factory 5.
However, just as she is about to give up, Mya's creative enthusiasm is rekindled by Thomas Arkwright, an unconventional lecturer at the Art School (played by Alan Adler). Arkwright becomes Mya's mentor and the sensitively portrayed relationship between the two of them forms the basis for Mya's subsequent voyage of discovery. For this moving portrayal10/10.
