The Mint

This would have to be one of the weakest television shows I have ever seen, work experience hosts, basically designed to fill the late night time slot at minimum cost. The saddest part, it is the same concept as the show "quizmania" which the same network had on only a year before this show canceled suddenly. Now, thank goodness "the mint" has also been canceled both shows are basically the old con of charging everyone who rings in and only letting a very few callers through, they make a large amount of money off the few poor saps who keep calling. Even infomercials are better than this complete and utter rubbish. Only a couple of years ago the network (channel nine) was our highest rated this sort of show has cost them that position.

I loved The Mint! It was a silly idea, sure, making people phone in to win small amounts of money, and no doubt the network made quite a lot of money off people doing that and never actually getting through onto the show, and the games were silly and hardly mind blowing, but it was the HOSTS that kept me watching! Rob Mills, Lyall Brooks and Natalie Garonzi in particular were all outstanding, and showed quick wits and a great comedic element to live performance that should stand them in great stead for their future careers. Lyall Brooks in particular was a hoot - he would do anything for a laugh, and was completely unafraid to 'go there' when others would not! I see that Lyall and Rob have gone onto bigger and better things since The Mint so the show was not a complete waste of time.
