Violet

Violet (2019) expresses my thinking about artistic limitation and creation of a female artist. I am inspired by a film concept, the male gaze, by Laura Mulvey. This concept demonstrates that visual arts depict women in a way that male filmmakers, male characters and male spectators sexually desire to see. Unlike the early stage in film industry, more and more women play important roles in filmmaking, so they get more power to decide on how one woman depicts another woman. Personally, I feel desirable and pleasure to watch a woman being sexually portrayed on screen in the premise of aesthetics. I also think that motivating viewers' desire is crucial and essential for an artwork. Besides, studying at Sydney College of the Arts, I realize how artists struggle to survive with the constraint of self-creativity. If they live by making art, they would also struggle with the destruction of creativity from the commercialized creative industry.

I admired the delicate poetry , the fair creation portrait, the nice image of fascination. A photographer. Her model. Shooting and developing work, inspired music, beautiful acting, crumbs of Death at Venice , inspired end.

Not a great film but a correct one in the effort to translate special states.
