Better the Devil You Know

A new kind of humor for me.. . serious farce. quick wit almost "nit wit" but entertaining. subtle humor you could easily miss. But don't miss this flick. Loved Sam's job, and the drive-thru fast food scene. Andy McCain as Sam is a totally believable nerd as a person we all know in life. The attempts to escapes out of town are cool. Some lighting imbalance from character shot to another but added to the fragmenting of the story bits. There could be more about Sam and the techo-haunting of each character but what was there was fun to watch. I bought the 2 disk set from Amazon and suggest that the making of and the out takes give the viewer a full picture of the challenges and fun that goes into a one camera low budget indi film. PROPS.

I just finished watching Better the devil you know and I can advise no one to do the same. The film is about three friends that come back to their home town because they felt the 'urge' to do so. All of them are without a job and at first that is thought the reason that they came back to the village they grew up in. One of them, Tom Anderson, has had a dream where his and his friends death was predicted to him. The film continues from there.

Better the devil you know is a low budget movie and has that written all over it. Unfortunately not in any good way. It lacks a decent story, talented actors and decent music. This actually might have been the first comedy that didn't even make me think about a possible smile. Leave alone actual laugh. Despite the boring beginning I thought this film might have had some potential. I couldn't have been more wrong. After the film ended I was wondering if I could think of a worse way to spend my time.

I cannot think of any audience that will like this movie and cannot advise anyone to spend time on this attempt of a movie.
