The Grandson

I absolutely loved it. I personally thought the writing was excellent, I was biting my nails the whole time, and I really felt deeply for the characters too. We also laughed quite a lot, the old actors are AMAZING. It's definitely worth a watch, finally a Hungarian film that's worth the ticket!!

The movie is bad. It isn't awful, but it is bad. It's like a group of over-eager drama kids got together with their grandparents during the holidays and decided to put on a production. Yes, it authentically displays the shortcomings of Hungarian social infrastructure, but that seems more inadvertent than purposeful.

The movie is simply not entertaining. The story is horribly unrealistic. The fight scene embarrassing. The wounds heal too quickly. The treatment of guns in Budapest is laughable.

It's hard to observe the clueless getting scammed, the grandson's desperation and that our authorities are useless. The film is beautifully shot, and the aesthetic and production-design brings back a lot of memories.

The foundation of the story was ok, but the second half of the movie was so stupid, it was really hard to watch without rolling my eyes. The plot would have been enough for a 60 min TV movie. But they wanted it to be almost two hours long without anything to tell on the second half. Do not waste your money on this.

From the middle of the movie, the charm of watching it disappears. The topic of the movie is old, but it is very interesting for the people who suffered from this issue, considering that it touches the sensitive section of the society that people sympathize with. All in all, instead of this movie, you can choose much better movies for your free time. I didn't like it. The appeal of the movie would have been much better if the director could have presented more and more exciting challenges to the main character to solve the problems of the film's story. From the middle of the movie, unfortunately, the excitement of the movie is completely lost.
