This Fool

From first impressions I thought this was gonna be stupid but it's more like stupid funny. Julio has the quintessential Mexican American look. And all the regular American ailments. He has emotional issues with Jessie, lactose intolerant and was bullied by Luis is his bully older cousin who now has to learn from Julio. The whole thing is fun and it has a good story line with interesting dialogue and Luis's beatboxing is not bad.

The best thing is that this show is intelligent and treats the homie culture with respect!

It's been awhile since the Mexican and Latino community had a SMART comedy series, and it has arrived.

For those saying it's offensive, you don't know Mexicans. If you're Mexican and find it offensive, well, I'm sorry for you. I almost peed my pants 10 times in the first episode.

The actors are so good, the scripts so tight and funny, from a perspective I never knew I would love so much. Every character is so clearly defined and interesting and their stories shine a light on things I never considered. The visuals and art direction really shine.

But, most of all, it's really, really funny.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it is hilarious especially as you get to know the characters. The characters are built with good depth throughout the series and (I hope) there's another season to go deeper on some of them. The chemistry between Luis and Julio is exactly like real cousins. Everyone has real, but funny flaws. The situations are also based in real life but have that funny spin. I was very surprised by this show and hope to see more.

Funny as can be. Every man and woman in every barrio knows people like these. These kinds of friends. These kinds of relatives. These kinds of stories. The well meaning guy everyone steps on. The exes who can't stand each other but keep coming back. The tough guys who keep picking fights even though high school was 10-20 years ago.

A few reviews insist this series is not accurate or is somehow offensive. You do run into the occasional bourgeois type of person, some of them wishing they were white, who insists you can't laugh at yourself or say or do anything they perceive as negative to a people or ethnicity.

I didn't know the three main comedians behind this before. But I'll seek them out now, either TV shows or stand up.
