Night of the Axe

This is a pretty bad movie made in Maryland by what looks like a bunch of heavy metal headbangers.

Expect a lot of tattoos, long hair, beards and beer bellies (even among the women) and bad acting.

The budget is non-existent and the slasher wears a pillow case with holes cut out for his eyes!

The special effects are not special, nor are they effects. They are home made class projects that anyone can recreate -- maybe better.

To demonstrate how bad the movie is -- in one scene the slasher guy hits a guy with the HANDLE of his axe (not the blade), which somehow opens up his belly and out comes a sauasage!!! OMG!!!!!

Good movies can be made with no money -- look at John Waters' early work. You just need talent, which is sorely missing in this film.

A killer escapes from a local mental institution and goes on a killing spree. The beast, as he is dubbed has been in the loose for four weeks. He's being hunted by a man whose family he killed.

In the meantime Kat and Lisa are hosting a party for their old high school friends. They've got all the ingredients for a good time. There's plenty of food, booze and weed. The party seems to go well. Things die down and the couples go their own way to be alone together. That's when the uninvited guest arrives and puts a serious damper on everyone's fun.

The guy hunting the beast arrives just in time to save the last two people standing or does he? Things boil down to woman versus psychotic killer in this fast paced indie horror film.

Night of the Axe is a fine film. You can't judge an indie horror the same way that you would judge a big budget Hollywood picture. Practical special effects are used. I think it adds to the charm of the picture. Special effects and makeup were done by members of the cast.

I'm unfamiliar with the majority of the cast except for Angel Bradford. She's in a lot of good indie horror movies. If you get a chance checkout out Night of the Axe, it's a good way to spend an hour.
