The Hype

Saw the first 3 episodes and am loving the competition so far. The contestants are ALL so unique and each represent the industry in different ways. No ones style looks like the others. I like the spin on the "judges" by making them "co-signers" instead. Feels more business-like hahaha. It's also nice that they have special celebrity guests each week that have to do with the culture. It's quite interesting that this show is on HBO Max though. I think it may have been a better fit on a different station, or maybe on Netflix, but I hope they are successful! A 3 episode drop makes me a bit nervous, but we'll see!

Really enjoyed the overall concept and artists and feel as though this show has promise. However the judging was poor and they definitely seemed to play favorites. The criteria they based their decisions off of made little sense and seemed to be solely based on their personal preferences and styles they liked rather than an objective judgement of the execution of pieces or how well the challenges were met. Street fashion is diverse and all-encompassing and therefore they should have taken that into consideration when judging rather than only what they personally wanted to wear.

Even though there is a lot of room for improvement, overall, I did enjoy the show and I do hope there is a second season. If there is, it would be great if they try to incorporate the public reception/opinion into the judgement because that audience is really what makes street fashion, street fashion.

The thing that bugged me the most about this show are the judges, such posers constantly acting like they're from the streets, constantly pretending. Besides that, their taste levels are very questionable. It's an American show so it is to be expected that they are a little bit behind on the fashion trends compared to Asia and Europe, and this clearly shows.

When it comes to the contestants in my opinion there are only 3 really creative designers there; Paije, Kai and Justin. Most of the 'designers' rely heavily on reworking existing trends into messy/oversized designs which is just not creative.

I fully understand this style isn't for everyone but everything looked so bizarre and sloppy. Grownups chanting words like "so fire". Weird Hobby Lobby aphorisms on velour and corduroy. What in the world did i just watch.

I binged the whole show and the judges were so rude! I understand that they have to give feedback but i felt uncomfortable watching how rude they were to the contesters I felt like they didnt respect the conteastens individual style at all.
