Master of My Own

Delightful drama about Ning Meng (Songyun Tan), a competent and overworked secretary at an investment firm. Her demanding boss, star investor Lu Jiming (Kenny Lin), scoffs at her dream of becoming an investor herself and tries to keep her as his beck-and-call girl. Ning Meng's road to achieving her dream is laden with lessons in investment, comradeship, love and redemption.

This is the first show I've watched of Kenny Lin in a romantic role and he oozes sex appeal, even in scenes where he is supposed to be obnoxious. He has great chemistry with Songyun Tan. They both made their roles loveable and convincing, keeping me glued to the tv.

All in all an entertaining and, as with most cdramas, informative, watch. Some parts felt like an Investment 101 class.

This drama has best actor/actress...There is something to learn from every character this drama has..Every episode is interesting.. It was so refreshing to watch. I had been always admiring Tan song yun since i watched her drama "Under the power" & "Go ahead "..Both r masterpieces.. She did portrayed her character amazingly in this drama too...Best C-drama for me in 2022..Best of luck.

Well done! For the first time I was more interested in the characters development and personal growth story than i. The romance piece itself.

Not only main characters but secondary characters and stories are compelling as well. I also loved their approach of values in life and importance to stay true to one self.

Business side of the story is very good and accurate (not silly filler to the plot as an excuse for the characters to bond). I worked in investment banking for a while so enjoyed it very much that side of the story as well.

Has been a lo g time since I enjoyed a show this much.

It has it flaws and romance piece could be a little better but it was also refreshing that it was not main thing and personal growth (and growing together) was the main message of the story.

Both leads acts well. The boss Li Jiming is low in EQ, as he has a bad childhood. He is not taught how to love, talk well and look into his own feelings. He is a successful investors and has strong ability in his professional arena. He has be so much used to take care by his secretary, the female lead for the past three years. He felt uneasy to let her go away from him but the way he treated her requests of allocation to investment department is mean and twisted. He later learnt to be considerate and warm-hearted with resilience. This made his role much more rich developed and convincing. The female lead is very well interpretated. Though it is not easy for a girl who has no strong background and looked-common in general, she never give up her dreams, kindness to others and bottomline under many challenges. Many viewers doubt how they can be in love if someone are so mean and take you so inferior. But after the story continues, they both developed in to a better one, this is how love can build up when both in equal status and with respect and cherish. The business part is very good with many real investment cases, knowledge and mottos. The production team has put good effort in it.

Refreshing and mature take on the hate-to-love, rich CEO vs poor employee trope.

(Synopsis: For as long as she can remember, Ning Meng has dreamt of becoming an investment director, but since graduation, she seems to be drifting farther and farther from that dream. Currently working at an investment firm under Lu Ji Ming, Ning Meng has never once been given a chance to advance in her career.
