Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy

The first two parts which focus around Kanye making The College Dropout are electric. There's lot of amazing candid footage, and it's incredible seeing how much work went into that masterpiece. The final part changes the tone and depicts the troubles Kanye's been having recently. It's raw and honest. You see him in the middle of manic episodes and it's disturbing.

It's pretty great overall if you're even a little bit interested in Kanye. It seems mostly honest in it's depiction, and it's interesting seeing small quirks present at the beginning of his career take him over. There's a lot of talk about God and Christianity, especially towards the end, which can get off-putting if you're not religious.

Jeen-Yus had me glued to the screen. The documentary is long but I was engaged throughout. The first two parts gave me a lot of respect for Kanye. Part three broke my heart and it was hard to watch. No matter your opinion on Kanye, this behind the scenes look into Kanye West's rise to fame is engrossing for fans and non fans alike.

For all his flaws Kanye is an interesting individual. This is Coodies love letter to a friend, turned icon. By sheer force of will he created himself in the image of the greatest men who have lived, and Coodie was along for the ride to capture the humanity of it all. It's a very moving documentary. Because of Coodies heart and friendship, you feel the intensity of being present but not reaching the man who would be king in the last film. It's very impactful, heartful and beautiful, no matter of your a fan of the individual in front of the camera or not.

As a fan of Kanye and someone who's favorite music album of all time is The College Dropout, I had mixed feelings about his personal antics over time and I kept wondering how much of that I would see in this documentary.

I wouldnt say much but I'd say this, with everything going on with Kanye right now in 2022, this was a solid reminder that behind all the fanfare, he is a human being grounded in humility and exceptional talent. I needed this reminder and I think everyone else needs it too.

Incredible. Insightful. Eye-opening. Both in terms of what I learned about Kanye and his thoughts, most important about God, but also how Coodie told this story and put together a documentary. This will all contribute to my story and story telling abilities.
