Vampire Academy

The subject matter is similar and most of the characters have the same names, but that is where the majority of the similarities to the book series disappear. The story in the show bounces all over all of the books picking and twisting the different events. These books were also for young adults and the content of the show is definitely not for young adults. I wish I had not read the books prior to seeing the show, maybe than I wouldn't be as disappointed. I read all of the Vampire Academy series books and then continued on the the Bloodlines series. I genuinely hope they do not attempt to convert those books as well.

I was half expecting them to break out in song to go with the dance moves that they were doing. Oh sorry, I mean fighting. 🤣 Action is obviously all wrong, I really don't think you can even call it action as it really is just like they are dancing, and the acting and script are both bad, not sure which is worse, might even be in the running for top spot of bad against the outfits and sets... alone with special effects and music, lighting, accents (they really do change, like these people are meant to be actors? 🤣) and everything else that is wrong with this. You really have to wonder who knows who or who has done what with who when stuff like this is aired.

Was very excited for this to come out. I read the books and loved them but........this show uses the books as a loose guideline. It is good I just wish I hadn't read the books because it ruins it for me since they are different from each other. Rose is not sassy whatsoever, the way the story plays out is very different from the book, and it seems very fast paced for this early on. Just once it would be nice if they used the source material and followed it instead of going off into another dimension. I will continue to watch and give it a chance; but if you have read the books just keep in mind this is a loose adaptation and does not follow them.

Not appropriate for anyone 18 and under, but it's also too immature to be for adults, so I'm not too sure who the target audience is. I can't say I will stick around to watch any more episodes, managed to watch the first 5, as I just didn't find it to have that certain spark that pulls you back in for more, which other new shows do have. The acting and script were both very mediocre, and I think that plays a huge part in why I couldn't get into this show. I also found it to be very rushed and not well explained, so I was confused as to what was happening most of the time, so with all of those things, I just couldn't get into even though I wanted too.

I loved the vampire academy books growing up, but this series is basically unwatchable for many reasons and nothing like the books. The creators have used the names and title, but everything else is gone and that really ticks me off because pretty much everyone involved in making this series said that it was an adaptation with minimal changes... but keeping only the names and title means that they've done more than minimal changes and they lied to all of us books fans, which is a seriously disgusting thing to do. Did you all think that we wouldn't notice and would just watch this poor excuse of an adaptation? I can only assume you did, which means you are all severely delusional and need to seek medical help immediately.

As I mentioned above, this series is basically unwatchable even with being nothing like the books, and here is why...

1. Actors with poor to dreadful acting skills 2. Awful script

There is more, but those two things alone make it impossible to watch.

While I don't recommend this show, I do recommend the books to anyone that reads this review. It's an amazing story from start to finish with incredible world building and character development and much more.
