The logistics of getting camera equipment into such a location and filming in total darkness was just one of the challenges in making 20,000 Meters Under the Earth. Filming was also on hold for years following an incident in which one of the researchers was injured in a rock fall of 1000 meters. The incredible rescue operation involved more than 700 volunteers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Croatia lasted 11 days and was watched by millions of people on TV and the Internet. Not only did Johann Westhauser make a full recovery, he went on to rejoin the team and be part of this film production.

Climbing ... getting inside

I think this will work with people who are in love with the subject matter. You really have to dig all this to be entirely enamoured by it. That being said, even myself and I wouldn't call me a fan of climbing and exploring to that degree ... it worked for me too.

I am ok with watching this from a distance seeing people do that stuff ... and not being in danger myself. I would be worried that I get trapped inside to be honest. But the whole documentary is quite intriguing. A big thing as the title already states then ...
