La Exorcista

No pun intended obviously - and also do not compare this to the one and only Exorcist movie. It would not do this movie and your viewing experience much good. But if you like horror movies, you probably will not mind too much about that ... or hopefully will be able to accept something like this in your world.

The movie is decent overall, the acting, the script and the effects that is. Overall I reckon it still is predictable, but you can't have it all. Characters may act in a way you don't agree with either, but that would fall under the suspend your disbelief ... very important, not just but even more so with horror movies ... so here goes nothing ... or something! Better start to pray.

I watched this movie with no expectation, but after first scene I have to change my mind. It made me quite scared and wonder what would happen. By the way, some moments are cliche and you can met them in typical horror movie. But I see the effort of director to make something different. The way to find down the source of evil is struggle than other movies.

The acting was quite good, the main actress keep their performance stable and make us feel the frightening. Also the movie leghth is enough to make you focus on what happening. The Spanish's concept about devil is very potential and could be expanding in many many more movies.

Although there are quite a few exorcism-themed movies around, only a handful are probably worth your while. I must admit to enjoying a good exorcism movie, but only if it's done right. Since La Exorcista was an official selection at the SITGES 2022 International Fantastic Film Festival, I had high hopes that this movie would be at least fairly enjoyable.

Director Adrian Garcia Bogliano has made an effort to dispose of many of the genre tropes, such as avoiding a single location narrative and the typical male priest vs. Possessed female. This gives La Exorcista a slightly fresh(er) dynamic. The excellent María Evoli stars, which is also quite exciting as I have been a fan of her performances since seeing We Are The Flesh (2016). And once again, her performance here is immaculate and involving, carrying the film for the entire runtime.

The effects in La Exorcista vary from great to slightly wonky, with mostly the CGI being the offender. However, there are some really creepy visuals throughout with some innovative sequences, such as when a possessed woman emulates a snake and slithers into the darkness. It was such a WTF moment, I had to replay it again.

Overall, La Exorcista offers an atmospheric good time for horror fans and María Evoli is also quickly becoming a genre favourite.

For the first time in my life, I had to leave the premises of the movie theater. This was just awful, I'm sorry, but this is shameful for any horror fans out there.

The actors had no substance at all, the acting was really poor through the whole movie, there's no story at all just a bunch of scenes that are supposed to scare you but Ibcouldnt feel anything but shame. Shame for the people who wrote this movie, the actors participating in it, and the movie theater company itself, how come they even accepted something like this being played? Me and my GF stayed for 1 hour and then said THATS IT! I'd be surprised if anyone enjoy this film. Watch under your own risk.
