फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
I came across this film by accident. The story is about a policeman, Detective Sargeant Danny Miller (Danny) who goes undercover in an attempt to discover how the drug scene works in a certain area.
He starts off slow at first, befriending other local addicts who introduce him to local dealers. Danny is after more than this however, and manages to gain the trust of one of the bigger dealers.
At this point, things start to go downhill. Danny has had to 'cross the line' to gain peoples trust. And its a slippery slope. So it becomes a battle about the law, morals and betrayal.
What is good about the film is the small intricacies that make this film seem very real. The acting is mixed, ranging from excellent to quite poor depending on the character. But this does not negatively impact the film.
I don't know if there is any truth to this story, but the director either has experience of the underground street dealing that most don't witness or he has had a lot of help with research.
The film almost feels as though its been made with a personal passion. The director understands why people take drugs, sells drugs and the impact pil8ce are having on the 'war on drugs'.

Thank goodness indie filmmakers are still making good crime thrillers because we don't see enough of these. I believe a movie needs 4 things to be good, good story, good performances, look good and sound good. Bluff naiks all 4. Congratulations on a good film. I won't get into the depths of the story as I don't want to ruin anything for the audience. Basically if you like crime thrillers there's a good chance you'll like this one!
An angry, gritty grenade of a film, that questions the ends, the means, and everything in between of UK drug laws.
An inspiring debut by Sheikh Shahnawaz - one of the best Midlands' directors since Shane Meadows.
Nolan-esque in all the right ways, and with a third act that'll hit you much harder than 'The Departed'.
Phenomenal score by Savfk.
The film's genius is the tangled ties between Gurj Gill's ambitious cop and Jason Adam's abandoned junkie.

A well written, involving, even gripping crime thriller. The whole piece is so well done and believable. I don't know if it's based on a true story. But if it's not, it certainly feels like it was. All so vivid and real. The characters are all interesting, the dialogue is great. And every performance in the film was spot on. Just excellent.
Oh my! Where do i start? I adored this film.
From the storyline to the performances . Everything about this film brought a new sense and dusted off the feelings I had as a viewer about a drugs film.
Fresh, innovative . This film gave new eyes on an old story and had me surprised by how i felt for the drug abuser Cooks. I felt for him like a mother feels for her son. The acting was oscar worthy to me. Each and every actor performed with such realism.
Imran was horrific, in a good way. A bad guy that you wanted to hate but was oh so charming. Danny , the undercover guy was tormented and agonized by his choices which made the story, especially with his handler Collins, who seemed to want to protect Danny, but at the same time ,put his feelings aside to get Danny to do his job. I really liked their relationship and if i have any criticism, it would be that i would've liked to see Danny and Collins interact more other than work. They really sold the movie as well as Cooks for me.

Sheikh made the film in honor of his father's memory who died 5 days after Sheikh had finished writing the screenplay. There is an in memoriam at the end of the film dedicated to Sheikh's father.
