Secretul lui Zorillo

The main problem with comedy is that it has to be funny. Drama, thriller, SF, horror are easier to do. Being funny is a rare talent.

Obviously this movie tries to be satirical, a bit like "Asterix'. There's lots of hints to nowadays Romania, of course. Unfortunately they hardly make you laugh, or at least smile.

Acting seems somewhat amateurish, gags are poor, the script lacks comedic creativity. It's a jolly highschoolish improvisation by a bunch of friends who have a good time together rather than a well-thought project. And the budget was certainly very very tight.

The only praise all this deserves should be directed to the movie idea itself. Not very original, but still nice and unusual in Romania's film industry (although the term "industry" is probably hyperbolic). It's fresh and unconventional, and the very fact that someone started and completed this production is worth a short applause.

Finally, afer years of waiting, I'm glad that my fellows from Romania have given a really absurd, but in my taste of comedy. Yes, scenes and situations remindded me of Mel Brooks or Monty Python (and other great comedians), but overall, a Romanian film which do not expose the black days of communism or present gray of today living. Just enjoy and laugh like I did! Idid not understand why this film has such a low percentage of good rewiews.

Wonderful landscapes of our country, great scenography, no faulty acting, insane idea and story unflawed by nothing. Great satire from from start, when a child brings a corn cob to his mother (or so), mailing a message... In my opinion, is a fantastic satire against the fanatics who reinvent the Dacia's history. Anyway, it their right to appear as they are.

Even the dialogues are embarrassing. Everything is bad about this movie.

The historic information about romans and dacs are wrong...and phones...? And a Rocket? And the actors are playing really bad. It Is bot even funny ...It Is nothing.

This movie is just amazing. Every part of it. Even the advertising. The jokes are extremely subtle and go over your head if you are not paying attention but I was dying laughing. The subtlety. Genius. Genius!!!

Film by Romanians for Romanians, inside jokes are half of them. Also, "smart " jokes. Am I saying you are not smart if you dont get them? Well, also beautiful scenery too. And so much wordplay 😆😆

If you are looking for a Genius comedy movie as a romanian this is the movie. This is what you are looking for. With all that said, Barza varza viezure!

Saw the movie on the opening night with some friends, and we liked it.

The action is set in ancient occupied Dacia ( actual Romania), in the post roman wars times, and depicts the adventures and struggles of three commoners who are in the search for some meaning and glory in their life, using all the means to trick both local and imperial authority, and being half-wits, but sly, luck seems to shine upon them occasionally.

The action may be set in ancient times, but the theme is not out of date, and i saw the movie as a satire filled with comedy on the actual romanian society in particular, and society in general.

The score was inspired, as was the casting department. I enjoyed the camera work and direction in particular.

Highly recommended!
