Great Documentary

Sara Alavi did an amazing job capturing the real stories of what refugees have to go through to flee their war-torn countries that they still love. I had no idea how much migrants contribute to this country's economy and how much we equally benefit each other. I am happy to know that there are organizations to help get these people to safety so they can start new lives. It's important for everyone to know the truth about refugees and understand their struggle so we can help the best way we can. God bless all those who are fleeing for their lives from death and destruction and all those who give a helping hand.

Listening is key, Empathy is a must.

In an hour this documentary was able to provide me with testimonials from different Refugees of all genders and ages, educated us and highlighted an amazing organization. The film created a connection for me by sharing common experiences. The way it was filmed I felt like I was there with them all in the conversations. It increased my understanding and has sparked an interest to continue to educate myself and my loved ones. Leaving your home is hard enough but being forced to leave your home is just at another level. Take time to listen and learn straight from the source. Listen/empathy a must.

Statistics I Didn't Realize

I was quite moved by this humanitarian film. I learned about it through a friend of mine and was curious to watch. Being someone who typically votes Republican, I was unsure and skeptical of what this film would entail. In truth, it is not a political issue, and it is a human issue. Some of the areas and statistics listed were surprising to learn, and I found myself researching there after. It is devastating hearing and learning of the stories migrants often face. I didn't realize that overwhelming majority of our workforce is of foreign born population. While I still carry conservative views, this area of migrants and aiding the Latin communities is something I am realizing is a duty of a civilized human being. I will surely spread the word and reflect on all the messages and insights carried out by this documentary. Well done!

Personal, Engaging, and Truthful

Beautiful in its simplicity, this in-depth look at what refugees have to go through has no smoke & mirrors, nothing fake or sensationalized. Just hard, honest truth. And it's told in possibly the most personal way, from the people themselves.

Sara Alavi has put together a beautiful and compact film that could have been even longer (maybe this will become a series?) and still remained engaging. The cinematography and editing are stellar, but it's all about the story being told. It feels like taking a class in not only the history of refugees, but how to make an interesting documentary that can make an impact.

Full of information that we all need to digest in order to move forward with how we develop and treat people being born foreign or a refugee.

Reflecting simultaneously also how to remain all tied together as human beings, with love in our actions.
