Speaking as a Professional Detailer, this is some of the nastiest vehicles, I've ever seen! The fact that the amazing crews are able to transform these disgusting vehicles into showable condition is Awesome! Eron Knox from Reds Detail Co. And Jamie Buchanan from Visual Perfection are hilarious and make the show a great time every Wednesday Night! I have dealt with nasty vehicles but nothing as challenging as what they do on this show. This is truly entertaining and my entire family watch and never miss a show. I strongly believe the show although is geared towards entertainment and the methods you see to clean these vehicles are genuinely accurate. The condition of these vehicles is believable because I have personally Detailed thousands of vehicles, using these methods and dealt with similar challenges, just not this severe and that is what makes this so fun to watch! I am proud to see Detailers demonstrating the types of things we deal with and an accurate value the work that is performed. This is so cool to see a show that focuses on Detailing and shows the talents of some of the great people in our industry. I am a massive fan of the show and everyone I have reached out to is tuning in and loving it also. My favorite part besides the hilarious humor is the fantastic reveals at the end of each show. These characters are all great to watch and are very likeable. Honestly I feel like I'm right there and their expressions and reactions totally leap off the screen. Great job to the cast and crew and this is my new favorite show to watch! Can't wait for more episodes and seasons! This Show Rocks!
So first off you can definitely tell they have purposely made these cars super dirty some are kinda believable but most are 100% obviously faked like the goat mom van episode it had muddy hand prints and clumps of hay and dirt purposely thrown on it and the back story was ridiculous but if You're just into seeing dirty things get clean it is still satisfying. 3/10 just for the ASMR aspect. The reveals are definitely nice the businesses do seem to do very good work if they're actually doing the work. I'd stick to tiktok and YouTube if I was looking for detailing ASMR videos. I honestly wouldn't recommend the show though.
My kids love watching this show with me and seeing what's on the show is pretty close to what we actually work on, on a daily basis! This is a great showcase of the industry and I think everyone on it has done a very good job of highlighting it. There are some items that seem "over the top" but 85% of it, we see on a daily basis. It's nice to see a "job" that used to be treated "bottom of the barrel" be highlighted in this fashion and I'm excited to see what else they start to highlight because this is truly a unique industry. Hopeful for Dirty Old Cars CANADA and to see what season 2 and beyond brings!
But I wouldn't buy a car that's been "sitting for 30 years". All the rubber would be rotten, most likely a lot of rust that wasn't addressed, where's the cracked dashboard covers? All would have to be addressed. Yes it staged but it's fun to watch. Hey, it's television. I was in television for 30 years and most of it was fake!
While I've only watched the first 2 episodes I already see some issues. I feel like the vehicles before they are cleaned are made to look, either by the production team or the customers themselves, dirtier than they really are. In Episode #1 a woman brings her deceased fathers Maverick in and while its sitting in the lot outside the shop there are leaves & twigs all over the windshield. The 1st thing they do when they get it in the shop is blow these off with an air hose. Well wouldn't have have happened on the drive (or even tow) in?
In the second episode the minivan looks to have mud caked all over the windows yet the woman says that she drives it regularly.
While watching the cleaning processes is amazing and oddly satisfying in an ASMR way it feels like the production staff or the clients themselves are "dirtying" up their vehicles for the before part pf the segment.
