Needless to say that I had never heard about this 2023 Filipino movie titled "Boso Dos" from director Jon Red. But I figured that with the movie being listed as an crime drama thriller here on IMDb, then perhaps there might be something worthwhile to the movie.
And boy was I in for a rude awakening. The movie ran for 106 minutes, but felt more like 300 minutes. The pacing of the narrative was so unfathomably slow paced and dull. And without much of anything interesting happening, then it was quite a snooze-fest to sit through this movie.
Writers Cris Lim and Jon Red were setting the movie up for some drug bust of some alleged big fish, and that is what made me endure sitting through 106 minutes of pure torture. And get this, you get less than one minute of what was supposed to be the big bust and the climax to all that had been leading up to it. And it was a laughable, sluggish, amateurish attempt at executing the climax. I had to go back and watch it twice, because I was laughing so hard the first time around. I just couldn't believe that it was all that director Jon Red opted to go for.
The acting in the movie was dubious at best for the most parts. It was especially difficult to take leading actor Gold Azeron (playing Mario) serious as a police officer, because he looks like he was twelve years old. And leading actress Micaella Raz (playing Ara) wasn't blessed with a single acting bone.
The best parts about "Boso Dos" were the two comedy relief police officers that had to relieve Mario and Ara of their shifts, and the landlady (played by Lotlot Bustamante) as well.
I can certainly understand why a movie such as "Boso Dos" might find an appeal with a young adult audience given the nudity throughout the movie. That was hardly something that furthered the movie in any way, and just unnecessarily sleazed up the movie. But hey, I guess director Jon Red got to put naked people on the screen in lewd scenes.
Do yourself a favor and stay well clear of "Boso Dos", because it is 106 minutes of wasted time that you will never get back. Some of us suffered through this so you don't have to.
My rating of "Boso Dos" lands on a very generous two out of ten stars.
