Reviewers say 'Grosse Pointe Garden Society' offers a quirky, suspenseful mystery with a blend of comedy and drama. The unique time-shifting narrative and glossy visual style are praised, yet some find the constant time jumps confusing. Character development varies in reception, with mixed opinions on likability. Acting and set design receive positive remarks, but the show's charm and intrigue are not universally appealing.
फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
I agree with a previous reviewer this is campy like desperate housewives and also is a "Temu" version of HTGAWM. The back and forth between present day and 6 months is the only thing making it interesting - and yet confusing at the same time. I lost interest mid-way through episode two and had to force myself to watch to the end. Aja Naomi King is giving Emmy worthy performance but the Other characters are just meh. Alice's relationship is unbelievable. And we are living with greedy rich people taking over the country in real life - I don't want to also watch it for entertainment value on my screen.
I think the show could be good. The actors were good, the storyline is interested. But there is one big issue with it. The constant changing of time. It makes it difficult to follow when and where things are happening. I really like the personalities involved, that they're all brought together by this one club. I like their dynamic too. But when a single episode changes times a half dozen times, I start to lose interest, especially if you're not paying super close attention to it and miss the sign that the time changed again. I like the mystery idea of not knowing who was murdered and wish I could keep going with the show. But it has a major flaw that was just too much.
This is what I call a "laundry folding show." Put it on, turn off your brain, and just enjoy yourself while you fold your laundry on the coffee table. That's this to a tee. Very light and fun. If this were on Netflix, it'd be a big hit. It reminded me of No Good Deed on Netflix.
My one complaint is that the constant, and I mean constant, cutting back and forth between the two timelines is a bit overdone and distracting. I wish there was less of that because you can lose track of the character beats depending on the timeline. But that aside, it's great. Melissa Fumero is the MVP. Great to see her play a completely different character form her role on Brooklyn 911.

I really like that show (so far/up to episode 9) and it is really creative. You really have to endure episode one, because it's really confusing with the introduction of all the people and sometimes you don't know who is who and what their relations are/were. Maybe that's just a "me problem".
Episode two is gradually elevating that series.
It's basically - if you can compare those - "Desperate Housewives" and "Why Women Kill". If you loved those series then this one is for you.
The characters are so over the top sometimes but it's part of the story. The story telling is also new: 6 months before and 6 months after. You get several glimpses into the future and switch back to the present. It's a good concept. Even how they visually announce that.
🗿🗿🗿🗿 (as a proof I have seen episode 9)

I love how this show is constantly testing if you know who "quiche" is. I love Aja Naomi King and Birdie! I really hope it gets a season 2. The editing back and forth between the timelines is perfect because they add text clues but also the coloring is different. I do weekly recaps on my TikTok channel and my audience and I are having a blast trying to figure out what's all going on. I love how the 4 main characters are like a merry band of misfits who get into all sorts of trouble on top of a murder. It's fun and light but full of drama lol. I do wish first seasons were longer than 10 episodes to give shows more of a chance for a season 2.

- ट्रिवियाA running joke for the series is Birdie is trying to quit tobacco, but most episodes include at least a scene with her smoking.
