Don't open the box is a terrific short horror film from Sean Breathnach who runs a short film channel on youtube called 'Irish Horror'. This short features excellent special effects, sound and editing with a very strong central performance from John Ryan Howard who successfully grounds what could otherwise be laughable. Would love to see another feature from Breathnach given the quality of this recent film. Photographer does a brilliant job in adding to the sense of unease from the outset with angled POV shots. Only negative with this film is it's not longer. Running at about 4 minutes it could have easily gone 9 or 10 minutes and it wouldn't have been boring. A great calling card for Sean Breathnach since his debut feature Beyond the woods from 2016 which although showed much promise, unfortunately wasn't strong in the gore or kills department and some would say story. I can't imagine what his team could achieve with a budget after seeing this short.
