Nando Reis: Dentro do Mesmo Time

A favorite music video of mine back in the day of its release, "Dentro do Mesmo Time" might not be one of the massive hits of Nando Reis during his solo career - the period with Os Infernais was huge though I didn't care much, specially because one of the major hits was with a Jota Quest cover song, but it's one of the most memorable of his, in my book. Nowadays, the clip doesn't have much of an impact on me yet it's still curious to get some view of it.

It's a little repetitive but one must admire the effort done by its makers in creative countless photographic effects and editing to create the cut-out effects of Reis driving around through the city with his car. It's a very artistic work, very well made and it was nominated for a VMB award (Video Music Brazil) in the best cinematography category, and Pop Video, if I'm not mistaken. The song deals with the everlasting chase for freedom and the ways people trying to find a perfect balance in life - as the lyrics "if the world could make a match of happiness and sadness in just one team", I won't complete with the rest but you can get a full scope of the human condition as having to deal with such duality time and again, but such combination most of the times doesn't work with a full balance within ourselves. One always overshadows the other, for the good or the bad. But the video is so free-spirited you won't be having such deep thoughts. Maybe that's a good thing. I just love the art, the music and the combination of both. 8/10.
