Kenny Loggins: This Is It

One of the most positive and encouraging songs of all time, Kenny Loggins' "This is it" has a curious backstory as he dedicated the music to his father, sick at the time and nearly dying of cancer and was about to give up treatment. Kenny goes with the song, the father fights back and lives a few years more. To us listeners it's all about reflecting on hard periods of our lives when everything seems to go wrong and there's no more time to wait for things to get better, it's time to go after improvement.

The music video for it is alright, nothing special about it except for the song. It's routine performance of Loggins and his group, lots of smoke to fill the air on stage and they're almost engulfed by everything. A pity that backing vocalist Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers fame, later solo career) does not appear except for his voice, at times with Kenny dubbing him - it's kind of funny seeing the first time when McDonald's voice comes up and it's Kenny voicing him. But when melody and lyrics are in full synch with our expectations or at least it's the exact thing we want to hear, then there's nothing wrong about it. 7/10.
