Bento Mussolini: Italy's Greatest Evil

I think a middle school history project would be more informative than this and likely more entertaining. It's repetitive, the information jumps around and throws around little facts that don't go together so it doesn't drive the story in a linear direction. The soundtrack is completely unnecessary and distracting. The music is scored for intense drama and it doesn't jive with the information being presented. What makes it particularly unbearable is the amateurish and objectively terrible audio quality of the narrators. The voice is pushed so loud it's distorting. So whoever was in charge of mixing the audio paid no attention to their job... Not to mention the extremely repetitive b-roll that's played throughout the doc. It's the same few minutes of footage player on a loop over and over again. I don't know how stuff like this gets made it so bad. The creators should be embarrassed.

BENITO MUSSOLINI: ITALY'S GREATEST EVIL. This documentary was an interesting watch. There aren't very many known documentaries (least of all known to me) concerning Bennito Mussolini and his rise to power, as well as the effects he had on the people of Italy during the period leading up to and during WWII. How did he become who / what he became? How did Fascism take hold of Italy and why?

While this documentary doesn't answer all of the questions one might have about this particular dictator and the era concerning him, it certainly helps fill in some of the gaps and strives to enlighten viewers to the possible mentality and development of such a mysterious figure. Knowing little about Mussolini myself (as well as his life, policies, and crimes), I can't say myself how historically accurate this show is, but it was certainly very interesting.

This documentary could have been much more interesting if that background music did not exist. Instead, it was constant, loud to the point of covering the voices of the commentators. And it was cacophonic, totally unrelated to the events shown. Furthermore, most reels kept being shown again and again, with different comments attached to them. Very disapointing, unfortunately.

I was looking for a serious documentary about his youth, education, ascension to power, and more interactions between him and Germany. Also, historically, I am not sure that the victory over Ethiopia was long lasting, and actually the Italians were defeated by the Ethiopians. While the Europeans colonized 90% of Africa, Ethiopia was never colonized.

All in all, this documentary lacked what makes a documentary an interesting one to watch. Except when it showed the murdered body of the dictator.
