Mother!

Charlie's acting in this is good except.......except when he's yelling. His accent starts to come out. Ha! That was funny.

Aside from that his work is great, no criticism toward him or the other actors for that matter.

What is very, very annoying is then the story switches from current time and slips into re-enactments of Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Silence of the Lambs. It completely detracts from the story and pulls the viewer out of the film. Instead of staying in the moment we're thrust into reanactmetns of the original movies that were inspired by Ed Gein's case. Why did they do this?

I've yet to see an Ed Gein inspired film that I truly liked. I think there are three or four not counting Psycho, Texas Chainsaw or Silence.

It's too bad because with out the abrupt changes this could have been very good.

Ed Gein, a name that sends chills down the spine. This dramatisation begins with Ed losing his brother and then losing his domineering mother.

It's an unusual beginning, definitely not what I was expecting. They've definitely taken liberties with the story. Is the dramatic license taken too far, or is it an interesting but stretched-out retelling? Perhaps elements of both.

Charlie Hunnam is outstanding as Ed Gein; it's a terrific performance. He's menacing, and that voice is so creepy. The Nazi narrative allowed the production team to set up some great sets and delve into a harrowing time in history. It depicted a pretty appalling scenario, but I struggled to understand its relevance here.

I'm slightly confused by it, but it was a watchable first episode.

As expected taking into account the previous seasons, it's already obvious that this series will focus on dramatically sensationalizing the story of Ed Gein rather than the accurate portrayal of the actual events. Don't get me wrong, I was superbly entertained and the cinematography is excellent, not to mention Charlie Hunnam's predictable excellent performance! But the goal seems to be set from episode one - this is mostly fiction.

I will keep this short. Ed Gein did some horrible and fascinating crimes, yet there's apparently not enough subject matter to make for a full entertaining tv-show. There's so much fiction put in there, they should've just made a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre instead of what they claim is a biopic. The acting is good, however the voice Charlie puts on sounds like Derek Zoolander. Recounts of Ed Gein tells you that his voice was high pitched and nasal sounding, so I can see why Charlie went this route, but maybe he didn't do his homework properly because there's audiotapes of Ed out there, and it wasn't as high pitched an nasally at all. Since the voice really broke the immersion for me, it's a shame to see it was redundant to begin with and not historically accurate at all. About the people here giving it a 10/10... delusional or purposefully dishonest...

I really don't understand why so much fiction was put into this series. Ed was bad enough that the truth can stand on it's own. All the embellishments made it unwatchable for me. I waited for this series. I set a Netflix reminder the first day I could. I love true crime and wanted to love this. Big miss here. It could have been great. They should warn viewers from the start that this is not an accurate Ed Gein story. It's what the writers wanted to portray. Not what actually happened.
