I discovered this show about a year and a half ago. I don't know how I missed it! These guys are not only talented in their chosen craft, but where else can you see "hillbillies" quoting Shakespeare and being intellectually "punny"? I binge watched a couple of Saturdays to catch up (thank you DIY and GAC networks!), and now I wait for Sunday night for new episodes. I know more about barns and log cabins than I ever imagined I would. There is at least one other "log cabin" show similar to this - but it doesn't compare to this crew. A real bright spot on TV!
This series remains Very Real - Not Scripted. Unlike so many of these shows where after the third season the players either begin playing to the camera or the producers begin bringing in their own actors to pad the production this Shaw remains true to itself.
This is the more way these shows should be done. Entertaining, informative, light on drama. It still could be a little more information and a little less "character" for my taste, but it's much better than most.
I'm tired of shows that are supposed to be about practical matters full of artificial deadlines, fake disasters, personal drama, and people who obviously don't know what they're talking about presented as "experts". This show is not free of these things, what reality show is? But there's less than many other shows of this type. They take the time to explain things and follow up on results later.

Fun show, no doubt about it. Learn what pioneers did in building their cabins and barns, and how this group salvages the logs for new structures. Beautiful country, interesting look at our past, and a playful group who make it all work. The guys are talented and quite knowledgeable of the tools and wood working practices of the past. Who knew? So much history waiting to be discovered and appreciated with good natured humor. The owner of the business narrates portions of the segments. The crew works hard and shows what craftsmanship is all about. Taking down old barns to reuse and carefully salvage the logs for new homes shows how the past can be part of the future. The guys are fun, the owner has a good sense of humor, and they work hard. Entertaining- yes! So the big question for the crew..what does Brian do? ( he wears a mean green frog cap well! ) LOL! 😉
These guys are great to watch - they're truly nice guys, no drama on the show which is very refreshing, and the work is fascinating. Respect for the past and the skills used here pave a wonderful path for the future. Hope you guys stay real, and keep up the good work!!
